Today I am sharing some pictures of my summer garden. I always look forward to planting veggies every year so that the children can learn how to do it. Our garden is not huge but just enough to get some veggies for the summer for our large family and have some fun with it.
The image above was taken with my iphone of a head of lettuce growing in our garden. It is amazing how beautiful it looks!
My hydrangeas are right next to my veggie garden and this year they are growing like crazy and I had to trim some of it down because it was growing over some of my tomatoes!
Little Isabella (2) is always helping me out in the yard. Her main job is to spray the veggies with her special water bottle and pull up any weeds. Mostly she loves pulling out the name markers out the dirt and mixing them around and eating all the raspberries off of her raspberry bush!
This year I planted tomatoes, green peppers, potatoes (3 varieties), yellow squash (seen growing above), cucumber, zucchini, cantaloupe, onions, lettuce, cabbage, brocolli and mammoth sunflower. Most of it is doing pretty good (what the bunnies didn't get to) so we are looking forward to a decent harvest this year.
Outside of the over zealous and hungry bunnies in our neighborhood, we get bugs like everyone else does. So I found this DIY Bug Repellent recipe online that I want to try. It is super easy and uses essential oils so it is natural, not using chemicals.
DIY BUG REPELLENT
Mix 10 drops each:
Peppermint Oil
Rosemary Oil
Thyme Oil
Clove Oil
And mix with water in a spray bottle and spray where needed. Easy peasy!
I have also read that the Rosemary oil is especially good for that and that peppermint and lavender is awesome for spiders.

These hostas grow these pretty little blue flowers, I can't wait for them to bloom.

will this spray help with whatever eating my hostas? all my plants have little holes in them? How do you get your plants so big? they are gorgeous
