I think these words are for me! I've been going through a horrible time and i just starting to get so bitter, angry and frustrated that things have not been going smoothly! Thanks for posting this sister! Love you!
I love Spurgeon. I start every day with his Morning by Morning devotional.
We had a sermon by one of the men in our congregation on Sunday while our Pastor was away. It was on affliction, based on 2 Cor 1: 3-5. The one thing that really stood out to me was that he said that he realized that he had been expecting better treatment from the world than Moses, the prophets and Jesus himself received. It really struck a chord with me, and I repented right then and there, because I realized I had been expecting the same thing (better treatment) from my unbelieving husband. Nothing changed in my situation, but everything changed in my heart and attitude. The Sovereign Lord allows the suffering to mold us...if He allowed His own sinless Perfect Son to suffer, how can we expect better?

My afflictions were def. part of my education. It almost broke me, but God knew I had enough faith in Him to stretch me wildly!
