When Christians Are Silent

There are so many hurting people in this world.

There is pain and so many lives are messy.

As Christians we can bringing healing through love and by pointing people towards Christ. We must speak mercy, love, and truth into the lives of people gently, yet boldly, and care for people the way that Christ would have us do so.

We cannot be silent.  In this age where it is so easy to get wrapped up on iPhones and computers and never speak twice to our neighbors, we need to be purposeful in our quest of loving others better. People should not have to suffer alone when we could be bearing one another's burdens.

I felt it would be helpful to share the following article that is helpful if you struggle with the right words to say during difficult times. Even though it is written for pastors we can all learn a thing or two:

At the loss of our 19yr old son, I felt sorrow upon sorrow upon sorrow. Words cannot describe the immense pain that lays heavy like a dark cloud. But Jesus did show up in His overwhelming love and grace. He spoke through so many -- from the heart to the heart. It is enough to say, "I don't know what to say." The comfort you have to share is that that you have received yourself. John 13:35

Thanks for sharing! The past couple of years were really rough for my husband and I as we struggled with infertility, miscarriages, and finally a very rough (but thankfully successful) pregnancy. What made me sadder than all of that was noticing how little those around us actually reached out in our time of need. A few text messages here or there are not comforting to someone in need, and I don't know what has happened to our society that that is all people will give of themselves these days. It definitely made me mindful that I should do more if someone I know is in need of some words of comfort!

I completely agree. That's why I started my blog: dreamingofperfect.weebly.com

I wanted people to see the way a Christian views things going on in the world.

Feel free to visit my blog if you'd like.
