Looking Ahead:Kingdom Purpose in 2013

“This is what the LORD says— He who made a way through the sea, a path through the mighty waters, “Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland.”

 -Isaiah 43:16, 18-19

As I look back at 2012 I like to take an honest measure of what was accomplished. It is so easy to get caught up in the accomplishments of what others "see" and what our fleshy hearts desire acknowledgement for, but a pastor friend has encouraged me through an article to look beyond the what man can approve and seek what the Lord's approval might be.

As you look back at 2012, into the storehouses filled with the fruit of what you did last year--what do you have to show? Is it chaff and stubble, ready to be burnt up and thrown out? Or have you been storing up treasure preparing for rewards that will not be taken from you?

Christian women, we need not be led easily astray, and let me tell you that there are SO many who would like to lead you astray--even right inside church walls. We need to be alert, in the Scriptures, holding tight to His word and the gospel and being one-minded and passionately on fire for the Lord and His mission.

The world would love to dull our senses--with false teaching and philosophies that tempt our idolatrous hearts, and even worse, desensitized you to the point of numbness and not caring one way or another assuming that what is wrong is right since everyone else is doing it.

Getting us off mission.

Friends, let this not be so in 2013.

Let 2013 be the year that your life overflow with His purpose.

Kingdom purpose.

"See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland.”

Whatever your past may hold--the truth of what only you and the Lord knows resolve today to make right before Him. He is your King and desires for us to lay down our whole lives for Him...even when it is painful. Let Him prune you this 2013.

“This is what the LORD says— He who made a way through the sea, a path through the mighty waters, “Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past."

As we look forward to 2013 we need to ask the Lord for clarity and for focus. If you do not know how to begin or where to start, may I suggest the following:

1. Pray for guidance, revived vision, and clarity for you, your husband, your family, your churches and neighborhood.

2. Fast--accompany this with prayer. Many Christians are fasting in the new year for renewal and revival for themselves and the world around them.

3. Be Kingdom minded--put down those magazines with their "to-do" lists for a successful year and seek what the Lord's mission for you would be this coming year. Yes, to get organized, lose weight, and declutter are all good things but don't forget the kingdom work He has planned for you as well.

As we seek The Lord's purpose year, we definitely need to seek Him on our knees.

Ladies, let us to freshly resolve to live this year for Him and seek His approval over the world's.

Will you join me?

Thank you for the reminder. I choose to join you on seeking God's will, purpose, and His mission for my life and my family this 2013. Thank you for encouraging us to pray and fast. So few of us really do that regularly. This is a great time to start. May you have a wonderful New Year with your family. Blessings~

What a timely reminder! The older I get, the more I want to find out what it is the Lord has for me to do, rather than the things this world says I should be involved in.

Wishing you a wonderful and blessed New Year!

Yes, time is short. We do not know what holds in our paths from one moment to the other, and that is why the Lord says to live in His presence moment by moment. Thank you for the beautiful way you explain to us sisters in the Lord, how to follow the Lord and keeping our eyes on HIM always.

Thank you so much for this June. The Lord must be speaking to me about seeking His will - you mentioned fasting and this morning I just read about Ezra and how he proclaimed a fast at the riverside in Ezra 8:21 that they 'might humble ourselves before our God, to seek from Him the right way for us and our little ones and all our possessions.' What struck me about this was that it wasn't just about self-direction for Ezra but the will of God for the families (love that mention of little ones!) and everything that God had entrusted to them... the people and the possessions. I think that is my verse for the year!
May you have a most blessed 2013. I comment less these days after choosing to cut back on blogging last year but wanted you to know I continue to read 'A Wise Woman' and your posts are always a source of encouragement to me.

Yes, June! May the Lord give us wisdom and discretion in all we do as wives, parents, friends, and as someone who shares from our heart on a blog. I value you, dear friend, and am so thankful for your encouragement in 2012. To God alone be the glory!
