Are You A Busybody?

Are you being a busy body?

Are you going to around prying into or meddling into the affairs of others?

We might think that in real life we never are, but how about when we blog or leave comments?

We need to be careful about going from blog to blog leaving unsolicited anonymous comments and meddling into affairs of that which we know nothing of. We need to NOT be busybodies. If you would not say what you wrote in person then do not leave it anonymously on someone's blog. Leaving a comment anonymously shows  that you did not even  have enough courage to put your name to it and also does not allow room for others to respond to you personally which is only right and the mature thing to do.

A godly person should be focused upon the things of the Lord. Helping their family and and minding their own business and doing the Lord's work. If you find yourself doing the opposite you need to reevaluate your priorities and focus. My prayer is that all of us---bloggers included, would be wise in how we act---online and off.

Remember that we are always accountable to God in all that we say, do and even what we blog and comment about. Let us always do all things with integrity knowing that we represent Him and will answer to Him one day.

Excellent reminder. I failed in this area just this weekend (though I didn't post anonymously) and just had to go back and apologize for being abrasive. *sigh* When will I learn? I mean really.

Thanks, I'm new to blogging and this is really helpful advice. By the way, I have found your blog so valuable for my journey as a stay-at-home wife and mother. It also look really beautiful. What a god-honouring site! Blessings.

Amen! I think we can all get caught up in giving that unsolicited advice , getting too involved in others affairs via blogs. A good reminder to MYOB:-)

Suzanne,

I agree--we need to remember that there are people and families behind those blogs and many of them are our brothers and sisters-in-Christ. Our words can be hurtful if we are not careful and we need to use our words to build eachother up and not tear eachother down.

Many blessings...

I appreciate this post. Recently I found myself "captivated" by reading a post and the comments of the 'busibodies'.
I knew I was 1. Wasting precious time. 2. Filling my mind with doubt, criticism and evil speaking. I felt terrible. I have repented.

June,

Amen to that sister!

One thing I am also trying to teach myself is taming my sense of humor. It's a rather dry one that people will get in real life, but because bloggers can't hear "tones" it can easily be misrepresented as being mean when my only intention was to make someone smile!

Very Very Very true. Remember that just because you are typing on a cold computer, it is being said about a warm live human being!

Well said. That we would all be "quick to hear, slow to speak, slow to anger". We should apply this to all our conversations, whether verbal or written. As readers, when we have questions or confusion or even disagreement with a post, we have instruction how we should respond. Our responses should be respectful, applying Colossians 4:6 "let your speech always be gracious, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how you ought to answer each person".

Thank you for posting a kind reminder to us all...

Blessings ~

wow, I really appreciated your comments about busybodies, i have so much i would love to add, but honestly i never thought about people negatively posting on blogs! Or connecting busybodies with blogs, wow! Eye opener for me for its just not something i do or even thought other ladies did! As a Pastors wife I have covered many areas were being a busybody can happen, this is one area it wasn't connected for me. Thanks again!
