Her Heart Is Rooted In Her Home

"In contrast to the wise woman,
the foolish woman is not content to be a keeper at home.
She is not satisfied with where God has put her.

One of the things the feminist movement has done so successfully
is to stir up discontent in women with being homemakers
and to convince them that other pursuits
can increase their sense of self-worth …

Fueling discontent and pushing women out of their homes
in search of greater meaning and satisfaction
has resulted in off-the-chart stress levels for many women
who can no longer survive without pills and therapists …

The greatest spiritual, moral, and emotional protection
a woman will ever experience
is found when she is content to stay
within her God-appointed sphere.

This does not mean that she never leaves her house,
but rather that her heart is rooted in her home
and that she puts her family’s needs
above all other interests and pursuits.
"

Although not yours, I still liked this. Depression is a huge issue in women in the modern world and age. There is a lot of unsettled women and unsettled hearts that lead to the discontentment of what they have, which is truly wonderful! I love having my heart rooted in my home...it is where I believe I am called to be. Thank you.

The closer I become to God the more I find myself wanting to be in my home taking care of my family. Of course, I don't mean that I never leave. I take care of my family in other ways as well. But being a homemaker is brings me more and more satisfaction when I realize that is exactly what God intended me to be.

This is how I felt for quite some time. I'm glad you posted this today. It reminds me of where my heart is to remain. Thanks!

Yes! I am 22 years old and just left (8 months ago) the school and work spheres to which I had been so committed. Now I am a full-time homemaker and expecting our first, little, baby later this year.

Fulfillment. Peace. Contentment. Purpose. Joy.

So many words can explain how I feel. What was I so afraid of before?!

It is amazing how Satan has filled our hearts with fear and guilt of being a 'homemaker'. The fear that we will not have enough money, that we will be bored, that we won't be using our full potential. I am also 22, and hopefully will be blessed with children in the near future. However, I have all of those fears of staying at home. I truly want to be a stay-at-home mom, but afraid that it will not be a possibilty (but in my heart I know it is all just lies). Thank you for your words of wisdom! They are a true blessing. You are an inspiration and I am thankful that God has called you to this 'blog' ministry!

Very well written. I have to work outsid ethe home because that is what my husband needs in a help meet at this time during hardships. But I can sooo attest the the stress levels being out of control!! I've been recently blessed with a month off and I'm using that time to build my home. There's nothing like having mom at home.

I love staying at home and it is even more of a challenge than working I would say!! I would say that we need to remember other reasons for depression and stress. Staying at home can be isolating and stressful. Also Post Natal Depression occurs regardless of whether you work at home or work outwith home being a hormonal depression.

My heart was totally changed a few years ago and PRAISE GOD for this great revelation in my life! I LOVE being in my home, building, loving, nurturing, teaching - I wouldn't want to be anywhere else!

I just love NLD! She's not afraid to tell it like it is, is she? Thanks for sharing this quote. I love being at home, though it has its challenges like any 'job'! The peace comes in knowing that it's not JUST a 'job', but a calling.

So true! I'm noticing this is also a problem within the youth today..they're discontent and don't even know what they're missing!

I saw this quote on another blog:

The Bible calls debt a curse and children a blessing; but in our culture, we apply for a curse and reject blessings. Something is wrong with this picture.

I appreciate your posts!

Hi Janet,

I am very familiar with that quote, it is by Doug Phillips, President and founder of Vision Forum. I also have this quote elsewhere on my blog and love it.

Have a great week!

Many blessings...

I love looking after my family and home, however I have been blessed with a full-time career that I love. I always trusted in the Lord to find the balance in my life and he does. Any stresses I leave with the Lord, he never gives me things I can not manage.

I have an employer that understands work/life balance and it works for us. If I need time off work (as I do in a few weeks to care for my elderly mother) my supervisor is very understanding.

Trust in the Lord and he will show what path is right for both the you and your family.

Yes, being a full-time homemaker is a wonderful blessing! I have recently left an outside job to "come home" and take care of my husband, home, and mother. Although it's not always easy, it's been a true blessing, and I am learning to appreciate this blessing each and every day through the help of the Lord.

Wonderful post. I agree 100%. i do have a question, though. What about women whose children are grown and out of the house? People, even Christians, look at me like i have two heads when they find out I don't "work". I am a 54 yo stay at home grandma & I love it. Is there biblical backing for we grandmas not joining the workforce?

Thank you.

What a powerful quote! And how true. It's interesting how unhappy women are reporting to be now that the doors have flung open to be "all that we can be".

I am forever grateful that God has shown me that I can be all He created me to be right here at home.

I love the grace and elegance I see on your blog, encouraging soft and gentle women, men full of God’s strength, and showing children to be the blessing and heritage of the Lord!

I've been a stay-at-home mom for 9 years now. I do miss being able to work outside the home. Though I don't think I would like to anymore. I like staying at home. Yes, I still feel the stress many times in taking care of our 5 kids but it is much more fulfilling. I guess my heart is rooted in my home.

Blessings,
