Decorating----With Vision!

If you have been reading my blog, you know that I tend to gravitate towards thinking multigenerationally. I am the type who needs lots of inspiration before I begin decorating or changing my home in anyway (in others words, I am not a natural!) so as I was perusing around online researching information for a book I have begun writing-- I stumbled across a wonderful sight that motivated me to rethink some ways I decorate. You might be familiar with The Sparrows Nest---well, take a look at this beautiful mural she adorned her living room with:

Just imagine something like that in your living room, to remind the whole family throughout the day to teach the next generation of the Lord, now that is decorating with vision!

Beautiful! I have a painted prayer on my kitchen soffit..."The Selkirk Grace" by Robbie Burns. Every time I look at it, I feel a little closer to my mother, who immigrated here from Scotland.

I love your blog and I am so happy that I found it! Reading your posts and viewing your beautiful layout and graphics was so refreshing and inspiring to me. Where do you get the graphics/art? I am using the same template on my blog also since I love lighhouses and what they represent.

Please feel free to email me at MrsWeeks01@aol.com and I will share the webaddress for it. (I don't give it out publically since there are pictures of my young kids on there!)

Thanks, again, for a lovely respite from the world and the encouragement I need to fulfill my calling as a wife and mother.

(P.S. I also saw this video on Sparrow's Nest today and was inspired to do the same thing!)

Are you writing a book? That sounds very promising! I hope to read more news about it soon.

How neat! Thank you for sharing this with us. I loved the mural and I would love to do something like that in our home. But...I'm afraid my slight OCD and need for symmetry would drive me bonkers before I got it done! :)

Thanks for sharing, June. I love the website you shared and it will definitely go into my favorites!
Ladies, we too have scriptures on our walls as well as a quote from William Bradford, one of the pilgrim founding fathers. Not only does it bless your family, it speaks God's truth to anyone who walks into your home.
Bless your families today:)

I taught in a Christian high school that was decorated with Scripture -- in the classrooms, over the water-fountain, even in the bathrooms. What a difference it made in my day (and the students' days) as those words pulsed with life, minute after minute.

We haven't painted Scripture on the walls of our home yet, but I hung small decorative mirrors outside of every bedroom so that I can write Scripture for each member of our family, as the Lord directs me (I use a dry-erase marker). I'm continually reminded to pray those Scriptures as I pass in and out of the rooms.
