"If anyone speaks, he should do it as one speaking the very words of God." 1 Peter 4:11
I've been chewing on some thoughts lately and thought I'd share.
A home is the dwelling place of precious souls quite dear to us. We
love them dearly enough to sacrifice our lives to them. We go to much
effort to create a lovely dwelling place for our brood. And, in an
instant, we can destroy our whole-hearted attempts with a quick
lashing of the tongue.
Ladies, who are we when no one is looking? When it is just you and
the children? That, of course, is when TRUE character is revealed.
Behind your four walls. Scary thought, isn't it? Amazing how
something so small as the tongue can leave such a permanent imprint
on the hearts of our family. Why is it that often times we have more
consideration and common courtesy for strangers in a store than the
very ones God has entrusted us?
Let me challenge you, ladies, to use your tongues in a glorifying
manner today. Go to your husband and uplift him, encourage, and love
him. Thank him for fixing the faucet, paying the bills, waking up
early to provide for you...then turn to your children and breathe
blessings upon blessings into their lives. Speak life giving words
over them and their futures. Shower your family with the love and
peace that comes from knowing Christ! Apologize for not being a godly
example and renew your minds with the living water that comes from
God above as we entrust Him with our days. Knowing He is not done
with the work He has begun. Let us praise the Lord for we serve a
Holy God, one that makes all things new! Let us always turn to Him
for our strength to make our homes the richest and fullest they can
be.
"You were taught, with regard to your former way of life, to put off
your old self, which is being corrupted by its deceitful desires; to
be made new in the attitude of your minds; and to put on the new
self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness."

Good post. Women being sharp tongue is glorified, normalized, and condoned in the media. Harsh words can really hurt people's feelings. We should speak kindly and gently to our families. A sharp tongue is the result of a lack of self control and control of emotions.
