Avoiding Homeschool Burnout

Why are we talking about homeschool burnout when the year is new and just starting?

Because it is so easy to put too much pressure on ourselves while we are planning the year!

It is easy to see what every one else is doing online and think that we need to do the same. But in reality we need to remind ourselves that it can often be wiser to keep things simple.

What are some things that can burn us out early on?

~Saying yes to too many activities.

~Taking on more than we can handle (this can even be subjects that are unnecessary).

~Trying to do school like someone else.

Too often it is easy to fill the calendar and be bright eyed and bush- tailed about it but realize a few weeks in that we can be over our heads...sometimes waaaaaaaay over.

So mamas, while you are planning school this year be wise! Sometimes simple is better. We often have our hands full with just teaching the three R's, let alone all the extras.

Or if you find your days becoming too much you might want to break from routine and:

-go on a nature walk
-go on a field trip
-take a break for a few days
-go on vacation
-take a break from the books and play games instead
-have a reading only day
-go to the library
-plan a fun craft to do
-have someone else teach for the day (husband)
-take a movie day and watch educational videos

Pray and ask God how He would want you to structure your days.

If you need more encouragement on this topic, you might want to check out this book:

Dear Sweet Latisha,

Thank you so much for taking the time to comment! I was so greatly blessed by your kind words today. Sometimes I pray that if I can touch just one life that makes it all worth it. Today you were that life. The Lord is so good and I am so grateful for Him and the opportunity to encourage you and others who read this blog. I will be praying a special prayer for you today and for God to bless you the way you have blessed me today. I hope you visit again soon. :)
