How to Set Up a Homeschool Room {& Helpful Checklist}

Have you set up a homeschool room this year?

I know, I know, you've seen all the fancy pictures of homeschool rooms online and you are a bit overwhelmed by all the pictures you see.

In the past I have used both dining room and a homeschool room. We had put the school room on our upper level and lower level of our home but wouldn't you know--every time we somehow always went back to doing school at the dining room table. It is just a central place in our home and easy for all of us! So I plan different ways to make that space more conducive to learning.

Now if you are blessed to have room and desiring to create a lovely space dedicating to learning here are a few simple ideas of what you could add to your homeschool room:

-table or desk

-educational posters and decor
-educational manipulatives according to age

-map of the world

-learning centers supplies - that include  math, science, history, art, and a reading nook
-art cards from various artist
-flags from different countries

I recently purchased this mobile magnetic board that I am in love with! It works for us since I like to teach in different rooms sometimes and can just bring it along with me and is a great size. You can hang posters on it too and I can use my daughters alphabet and number magnets on it as well.  I am including a pic below so you can get an idea of what it is like.

-flashcards
-puzzles
-educational games
-craft supplies
-sensory bins (we had fun doing this one)
-Student supplies (check out our Big List of Back-to-Homeschool Supplies!)
-rolling cart (pictured below and comes in white and other colors)

-Teacher supplies - teacher books, planners, board erasers, markers, pens, chalk, etc.
-stimulating toys for younger children
-Electronics - desktop computer, laptop, Chromebook, tablet, headphones

They come in all different sizes and you can find the baskets that go with there HERE.

Don't forget to get a handy printer:

Remember that your biggest space is your entire house! Don't isolate your kids in one room, let them roam and even go outside. The world is their oyster so be sure to let them enjoy it!

QUICK HELPFUL TIP BEFORE I GO:

My very favorite pencil in the world, these wonderful Ticonderoga pencils (I am telling you because they don't break, even with 5 boys!) are on sale for $10.28 for nearly 100! That is about 10 cents a pencil and a super great deal. It is only for a limited time so don't miss it!

What else would you add to this list?

We'd love to hear your thoughts!
