Has it been a hard week, month, or year with your kids?
Do you feel like you are failing?
Maybe the littles ones are out of control...
Or the teenagers are not listening...
Or your kids are rebelling...
Maybe you have felt like curling up into a ball and crying in the corner (or have even recently done so).
It's okay because we have all felt that way now and then.
But there are a few truths that I want to point out to you to so that you don't get discouraged---because motherhood can be hard and we need to not give up.
1. YOU NEED TO BE SOBER-MINDED AND STAY IN HIS WORD.
Satan would want nothing more than for us to get discouraged, depressed, and stop caring. We need to wake up from our feelings that can be deceptive and be sober-minded. It is important to stay in His Word and meditate on His Word and not on lies that we might be entertaining and telling ourselves.
"Be sober-minded; be watchful. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour. "
~1 Peter 5:8
2. DO NOT GROW WEARY
It is easy to become complacent or discouraged and stop caring or give up. I had wrote an entire blog post encouraging moms called This is War - The Battle for Our Children's Souls because of this. The enemy wants our children and we need to be vigilant as we raise them.
"And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up."
3. PRAYER IS POWERFUL AND CHANGES THINGS
Saturate your home, your children, and yourself with prayer. It is a powerful battle tool against the spiritual realm as you pray for your family. Don't just pray in private, pray also with your husband and children individually and as a group. When you pray also ask for wisdom and guidance and He will give it to you.
"Rejoice in hope, be patient in tribulation, be constant in prayer."
4. GOD LOVES US AND IS WATCHING OVER US
You are not alone---remember that God loves them even more than you do. Be faithful to do your part as the parent. Guide them to God's Word and correct, rebuke, and teach as needed but remember to do this in love with grace, patience, and mercy. They are a sinner just like you, in need of a Savior. I am so grateful that God showed His gentle love towards me and saved me from myself.
"But God shows His love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
I always find great comfort in God and His word and I hope you do too.
Sweet mama, stay strong and fight the good fight!
Dear Lord, please help us not to grow weary with our children. Please help us to love them the way the you loved us with mercy, compassion, and kindness and give us the wisdom and guidance we need along the way. Thank you for giving them to us as blessings and help us to always view them as that. Thank you for all that you are doing right now that I cannot see and help me to have faith when I desperately need it when I feel like I am losing faith. I know that we reap what we sow so help me to persevere and be an example of Christ to them even when I am weak. When I fall please help me to be humble and ask for forgiveness and to pick myself up to keep moving forward for Your glory. We ask all of this in the name of your Holy Son, Jesus. Amen.
