What I am Reading: Raising Kingdom Kids

Are you wanting to learn how to raise children for the Lord but just not sure where to start?

Or are you just struggling just trying to survive with the children that you have?

As a young mom raising children for the King was always close to my heart, but as I looked around it seemed that many people where in the same boat as me—just trying to figure out how to do it right.

And then there was the matter of time—just how much time did it take and what would be the best use of it? The more children that were added to our family I knew that I had to make the most of the spare time I did have.

I am so grateful for people who take the time to give a vision and share their wisdom and tips. As the body of Christ we need to sharpen one another and help guide one another in the Lord. I don’t know what I would do without those special Titus 2 examples in my life. Of even the faithful moms who were full of hope in Him.

Which brings me to a book that I have been leisurely reading through.  It is called Raising KingdomKids by Dr. Tony Evans (who is featured on Moody Radio).

Here is a quick description of the book from Amazon:

From the bestselling author of Kingdom Man and Kingdom Woman, Raising Kingdom Kids equips parents to raise their children with a Kingdom perspective and also offers practical how-to advice on providing spiritual training as instructed in Scripture.

Dr. Tony Evans begins with an overarching look at the need for Kingdom parenting, our roles and responsibilities in raising God-following children, and how to prepare children to take on the assignments God has for their lives. He then takes a practical turn, with examples and illustrations to help parents understand and provide specific training for kids in the power of prayer, wisdom, loving God’s Word, getting through trials, controlling their tongues, developing patience, the surrender of service, and much more.

This book is for every dad or mom who wants to fulfill the parenting role God has given them—not just in raising healthy kids intellectually, physically, and socially, but in contributing to their child’s relationship with God and alignment under His plan.

The Table of Contents include:

I have been blessed by going through this book the past few weeks. It is written in the same story style in which you would hear one of his sermons (I honestly think I read the entire book in his voice--ha! ) It was also nice that his adult children contributed chapters as well to give their perspective on the unique life of living in the Evans home.  It is a very enjoyable read that will meet every parent where they are at with tons of nuggets along the way to chew on.  You will definitely want to read this one if you haven’t already.

You can find Raising Kingdom Kids here at Amazon in both hardcopy and kindle format.

They also have a Raising Kingdom Kids Devotional:

It looks like an excellent resource. Thank you for writing about it. Resources written by God-honoring authors are like companion books to the Bible. Our goal is to build up each member of the family to fulfill the destinies for which they were created. Books like this help!
