This is War--The Battle for Our Children's Souls

"Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his might.  Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil.  For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places.  Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand firm." Ephesians 6:10-13

Dear parent, did you know?

There is a battle. A war that is going on this very minute.

A battle being waged for the souls of your children.

It is in the spiritual realm...you cannot see it.

But it is there.

There are some that know to fight. They pick up the Bible, they take the time for the heart to heart conversation when it is hard, they do battle on their knees in the quiet of the night.

But it breaks my heart to know that the enemy has many of us in a foggy daze and has disillusioned us from the crucial reality of what is really taking place.

We overlook it.

We deny it.

We turn a blind eye.

We are distracted with all the toys and temptations of this world.

We say we are too tired to deal with it.

Until it is too late.

But parent, this does not need to be so.

We need to rise up now and take hold of the weapons that the Lord has given us. There is victory in Him and we are not powerless against the evil one.

" But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ

-1 Corinthians 15:57

We need to take the time to talk to our children, to mentor them, to know them and their hearts. To find out what their deepest thoughts and struggles are and never grow weary guiding them towards the Gospel. In this big eternal picture we know that we can take nothing out of this world, but if our children are saved we know that they will go to heaven with us.

I recently watched a video of a woman who said she was only able to spend just an hour a day with her two daughters because she held several jobs and volunteer activities in the community. She became burned out and wanted to spend more time with her children. So she quit her jobs and volunteering and began working from home to be with them. She knew there was more to this life that what the world was telling her was important. She turned against the tide and bucked what society dictated as the typical expected role of her.  She was so grateful that she didn't waste her time on the things that didn't matter and instead to be able to be able to free herself up to focus on what really did. And regardless whether we work or not, we need to make sure to prioritize our time with our children with the time that we do have.

The days and minutes are fleeting when it comes to our sons and daughters. The things that seem important to us now will be insignificant when we stand before the Lord and give an account to how we shepherded our children. We need to share Jesus with them and never give up on them--even when they make mistakes.

Don't give up, parents.

There is too much at stake.

Please wake us up from our slumber, dear Lord!

Oh, dear friend! I sat here and read your anointed, inspired words, and the tears just poured down my cheeks. I SO understand and relate to all you are saying here. I can't thank you enough for this writing....it echoes the heavy burden weighing upon my heart. Dear Lord, help us to take full advantage of this precious time with our dear children! May we make every, single moment count, and help us to never tire of praying for them in the night and warring for their eternity-bound souls! I wish every mother in the world could read this article. It is SO needed. God bless you, June. You are so loved and appreciated.

Sweet picture of the little girl. I'm glad the lady gave up her job and volunteering to spend time which her children before it was too late.

My husband and I were just discussing this last night. We studied the armor of God for our Bible study today and made the armor of God out of cardboard as a craft. I so want them to understand what they are up against! Thank you for all you do :)

Cheryl, those are some sweet and kind words you shared. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for your dear encouragement. I love your prayer and am praying along with you!

Me too. I know it can be tough and not everyone can make that choice. But if you are able I believe it is definitely the best choice you can make.

What a wonderful idea for a craft--I bet your children really enjoyed that. I am not that crafty but will try things if it is not too overwhelming and if the older ones can run with it. I love hearing how other families get creative with teaching the Word. Keep up the great work!

Sounds like you have two sweet little blessings on your hands. This is really the time to just love and nurture them and share some basic Bible knowledge with them--especially your older one. You'd be surprise at what even a five year old can learn. But one thing I caution against is expecting too much at this age. Remember to just enjoy, love, be patient, and teach them the basics. Spend lots of time with them talking to them and helping them to understand this world with a biblical worldview. Believe me, if you don't do it, someone else will! Thanks for visiting and praying that the Lord would direct you in exactly how He would like you to do so.

Yes, we as parents need to be on our knees and to make sure we do spend precious time with our children, and to listen to what they are saying from their hearts. Thank you, Mrs.Fuentes for the reminder how important to know there is a battle being waged for the souls of our children! We as Christian parents know full well that the victory is ours in Christ Jesus! God bless our children!! <3
