It's Official--We Are Having a Baby Girl!

I just wanted to give everyone an official update like I promised since I had a chance to get an in depth ultrasound recently. It is definitely a girl! And she is lovely--we are already at 23 weeks and so far things are progressing nicely. The nausea has gone away being half way through my second trimester and now I am feeling pretty good. I even have days I feel fabulous and can do all kinds of things but still have those days when I am sure I just can't get up off the couch because the baby feels so low!

We have been thinking about baby girl names and so we asked the children what they thought. Immediately, one of my twins, Josiah, said, "FLOWER! ....Baby Flower Fuentes!"

So now that is what my husband calls her--Baby Flower. And he will come home from work and ask "How is Baby Flower doing?"

Since we are planning to move sometime shortly after giving birth (if all goes well) I have already begun purchasing some baby items. Now I have to admit it felt very weird doing this after seven years of not having any babies in the house. It felt so strange to go through those baby aisles again and look at the smorgasbord of bottles, baby toys, and so forth. But I want to really celebrate the fact that the Lord has blessed us again so I am wholeheartedly embracing the preparations and necessary shopping that lies ahead.

Have I gotten any nay-sayers since I have found out that I am 42 and pregnant? Yes, but not as much as I thought. How did I handle the situation? Lovingly sharing the word of God. It is funny how powerful peoples words are and we need to really combat negative or worldly philosophies with biblical thinking and truth. We do not need to fear the way the world does because the Bible says 365 times, "Do not be afraid." We can walk confidently in Him.

I picked up this cute little Pack N Play at Burlington last week:

We are going to use this especially for church since we have a potluck afterwards and like to stay really, REALLY late!

I also got these SUPER SOFT and cuddly Beansprout bunnies as babies first toy. Here is a pic that my son is holding up for you to see:

Aren't they adorable-- I wish you could touch them
through the laptop to see how soft they are!

I must stop here to say I have not been a big fan of how they changed maternity clothes to have a smaller maternity panel. When on earth did they make this change? It feels a bit uncomfortable and I am wondering that if it feels that way now how will it be when I am farther along. I spoke to several other women and they said they felt uncomfortable too.

I am not sure when they made the switch to these panels---all I can say is that this mama is old- fashioned and wants the old ones back! But really though, it has been a blessing to have a nearby Christian second hand store to find a good variety of clothing I needed. I am so grateful how God provides in so many unexpected ways.

Has anyone tried this bassinet? I am considering it but not sure:

I used to have a similar one in a different color for my twins when they were first born to keep them in our room. This one seems to have all the bells and whistles with music, nightlight, and vibrater all fixed into the handle and is also a co-sleeper. The top can be removed to reveal a changing table underneath.

Well, I am off to go look for a crib now. Burlington is having a sale and I am thinking about getting this one but will shop around and see what other options are out there.

Behold, children are a heritage from the Lord,
the fruit of the womb a reward.

-Psalm 127:3

I hope you enjoyed hearing about our baby adventures,
we will keep you updated as things progress!

I TOTALLY agree with you about the belly panels. What I ended up doing was purchasing some belly bands off of Ebay and then just used them along with the pants or skirt. It just gave me more coverage and it worked great right after having a baby and keeping everything is place. It was FAR cheaper than buying all different sizes of clothes too! A friend of mine took one of my belly bands and then added fabric and made a skirt with a full belly panel. AWESOME! And it was so useful too.
Take care!

I think it might too---I am already thinking about how we can incorporate the flower theme into her room. When I was out today I found some really nice things that I am definitely considering! Maybe I will post about that when I get a chance. :)

Dear Janelle,

What a great idea--I hadn't thought of that but will definitely keep it in mind. I do not feel like buying a more clothes towards the end of my pregnancy either unless I absolutely have to. I will have to check these out. Thanks for stopping by and sharing!

A relly nice name: FLower.
Our little and youngest daughter was born one day before I turned 46. People like to talk but we got it from the Lord.
I had a skirt too with a belly panel. So easy. Just found it back when i was sorting fabric.

I love the name Flower too. My 4 yr. old's middle name is Fleurette which means little flower in French. It would be a pretty first name. :)
I can understand how you feel a little bit about getting baby things. I am pregnant finally after what seems like a huge gap but really it's only been 4 years. I'm also wondering if I remember how to handle the newborn stage! We have to get lots of baby things since we haven't had a boy in 9 years and most of our baby things are pink! We also gave away major baby items to those who needed them at the time and it didn't feel like we would be able to have anymore babies. We have been blessed with many friends lending and giving us their baby boy items. The rest I plan on getting on Craig's list if I can.
Congrats to you and your family. You and your baby are in my prayers!

Congratulations on a baby girl! I had my last baby at 42 also after a 15 year break and boy I know exactly how you feel. It is amazing all the new gadgets. It was hard getting used to a crib that didn't have a rail to pull up and down. I was sooooo happy to have a swing that I didn't have to wind up ~ lol I had very hurtful remarks from non believers. The most hurtful was when a lady whose daughter went to high school with mine said she would kill herself if she was in my position. That was just so sad. I was thankful for others that would constantly remind me about God's perfect timing and how my baby would keep me young. My sweetie is almost 6 now and it has been wonderful to not have an empty nest. I will be 60 when that happens and since my oldest is now 30 I think I will be ready by then. I read that having a baby naturally in your 40s greatly increases your odds of living to be 100 since pregnancy is the greatest stress on the human body and that means your body is quite healthy. Of course, God is in charge of everything, but I would love to live that long.

Congratulations on your pregnancy and baby Flower! (I think it's a lovely name and goes so well with your last name!)

Yes, those stupid half bands are very uncomfortable and the clothes constantly feel as if they are falling down (and sometimes they are!). It is possible to still get the big belly bands, but you do have to look for them a bit. I found that Gap maternity and/or online shopping were my friends when it came to finding maternity clothes that were comfortable. I ordered things online with coupon deals to help defray the extra cost of buying new. (For instance, the Gap maxi skirts have a foldover waistband that fit my belly quite far into the pregnancy, plus I could wear them afterward!) All in all, pregnancy in the later months is uncomfortable enough without extra discomfort from clothes, right? I just found that I preferred having a few very basic, but very comfortable bottoms, that might have cost a bit more but didn't bug me all. day. long.

maybe your son would like Lily Rose or Rose Lily

Congratulations June. Maybe you can choose the name of a flower - there are so many pretty girl's names associated with flowers, you might be able to find something quite different for our Creator made so many! I was 43 when I had my 7th child. He has just turned 4. The time has flown by. I am in love with every stage but right now I want him to stay 4 forever because he says the cutest things and asks the best questions! My oldest is now 21 and still living at home, he just graduated from university and has his own business. We have a full house and I want it to always be like this ... a continuum of children as future generations come to their grandparents house... haven't given away my cot for this reason! And speaking of grandparents one day I was in an op shop (thrift store) with my 4 year old and the old lady behind the counter said 'Having a day out with grandma son?' I nearly died on the spot and was rendered speechless but as my husband consoled me later 'There are grandmothers out there who are younger than you with girls having babies in their teens.' Still I decided to stop neglecting my skin care routine after that day! Hopefully, that will not happen to you June. The number one question I am still asked is 'Are you having any more?' and I usually say 'I don't know but if God gave me another gift why would I not want to accept it!'

We have and are using a pack and play in our room, until we were and are ready to move them into a crib, usually when they start sleeping through the night.

Mother of 3 (5, 3, and 2 months)

P.S. Congrats

P.S. You could name her June. :)

Congratulations! I am so happy to find your post. I am not sure why, because I am not expecting, but as I approach 40, getting pregnant after 40 and after so much time (our youngest is 7) has been on my mind lately. Finding your post was such a lovely gift. I am so happy to learn that you are expecting. What a blessing!
