In Memory of Thomas Kinkade: Beloved Christian Painter

We are saddened to hear the news of Christian artist, Thomas Kinkade's  death yesterday, who died of natural causes at the age of 54. He had blessed many the world over with his natural talent in his artwork of paintings of beautiful cottages, gardens, churches, and more.

He was known to be the most collected living artist with more than 10 million homes sharing his pieces and also earned the title "painter of light", bringing in over $100 million a year in sales. Now he joins his maker in Heaven--the Creator of Light.  May his artwork (featured everywhere you can think of from t-shirts, cups, calendars, puzzles, prints, blankets, plates, drawing instruction DVD's and books) continue to bless this generation and many more to come. Our heartfelt prayers for comfort and peace go out to his wife and children.

Rest in peace, Thomas Kinkade.

For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.--Romans 8:38-9

Dear Vicky,

It is sad--we loved his paintings and I had just ordered a book that I started reading a few weeks ago by him and his wife on marriage that was a blessing and talked about their journey and love for the Lord. I hope to finish it sometime this month.

Many blessings...

I have loved his work for many years. The "light" he always used in each painting made it feel so warm and welcoming.

I am sad to think that there will be no new pieces from him now that he is gone...but he did so many, that his work will live on for all to enjoy.

I love that he shared his faith through art...and that he boldly told of his trust in Jesus. I love how he honored his wife and children too. I feel sad for them in their time of loss.

Thanks for posting this.

Wow! I follow your blog and only knew of his passing by looking through my blog updates this morning...then I saw yours...

Thank you for posting, very lovely. He is my favorite to this day. He wrote a book on marriage? I must read that! I remember when I was 12 one Christmas I unwrapped a gift and then jumped off the couch in excitement to show all what I received...It was a puzzle from one of his paintings...my favorite at the time!

Very sad news indeed and he will be greatly missed. Prayers to him and his family!

When I heard of Thomas Kinkade's death I was very saddened and wanted to know more about him. The last year or so of his life was very troubled. I looked him up on Wikipedia and other sources. He had left his wife and had a very bad drinking problem. He had been drinking all night the night he died, and he was living with his girlfriend. I believe he had many financial problems too. I loved his artwork too. And my children loved it. I hope that he is in Heaven and that he now has peace with God. And I definitely pray for his wife and children.
I just couldn't read all the comments and not share the truth.
