The Domestic Artist--Beautiful Homemade Ornaments

Christmas time is here and Miss Jen shares with us how to make these beautifully sweet yo-yo's that can be used for your tree or for gifts! These are very inexpensive to make and fun to do with your daughters. These come out much bigger than your average yo-yo, and I was VERY pleased when I tried them:

These little darling 'Yo Yo Ornaments'
are quite easy to make and
are so fun and cute.
They add a nice little spice and cheer to
anyone's Christmas tree.

The possibilities are endless
you can use... cotton fabrics,
metallic blends, vintage buttons,
beading and etc... to embellish in the middle.

Simply start by cutting out your chosen pieces of
fabric.... they should be anywhere
from 6-9 inches in diameter.

Fold and press around your circle about a 1/4".

Next~ run a loose running hand stitch around the
circle... leaving a long piece of thread (to secure button)

Gather your yo yo together till it forms
a nice gathered little circle when firmly pressed.

Using your extra long remaining thread...
sew your buttons in the middle with
some beading (if so desired)

Lastly....

Flip your little yo yo to the back
and place a piece of satin or velvet ribbon
looped in half and stitch securely in place.

And....
there you have it.... you have just made yourself
a darling little yo yo ornament!
~Enjoy~

Hope all of you are having a delightful week!
~Many Blessings~

"And suddenly there was with the angel a
multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying,
Glory to God in the highest, and
on earth peace, good will toward men."
-Luke 2:13-14

Having just turned 19, Jen finds great joy in serving her family from home. She firmly believes that the home is a beautiful canvas for biblical hospitality, servanthood and discipleship.  All aspects of homemaking are on her list of interests including gourmet cooking, baking, calligraphy, sewing and embroidery. She is also inspired by photography, music, theology and biblical womanhood. Miss Jen blogs at Blessed Femina, which she founded in the fall of 2008 to document her blessed life as a daughter/homemaker-in- training and to encourage other women in Biblical femininity. Happily residing in sunny northern California with her parents, it is her greatest desire to live a life depicted in I Corinthians 10:31: “So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.”

These are beautiful! Very Victorian and dainty! Thank you for this lovely idea...I'm without a sewing machine right now so it would be nice to still sit and create some handmade stitches instead!
