Fatherhood Quotes

Father's Day will be here in a blink of an eye and around the Fuentes household we are busily preparing to have everyone over. I thought I would share some quotes:

None of the things I remember about my father had anything at all to do with his lifestyle of whom he knew or the places he had been or the style of the clothes he wore. I just knew that he was always there. -Cal Thomas

A father carries pictures where his money used to be. -Author Unknown

There is no more vital calling or vocation for men than fathering. -John Throop

Blessed indeed is the man who hears many gentle voices call him Father! -Lydia M. Child

Children's children are the crown of old men and the glory of children are their fathers. -Proverbs 17:6

My father gave me the greatest gift anyone could give another person--he believed in me. -Jim Valvano

One night a father overheard his son pray, "Dear God, make me the kind of man my daddy is."---Later that night, the father prayed, "Dear God, make me the kind of man my son wants me to be. -Anonymous

F...You are my friend.
A...You are my ally.
T...You are my teacher.
H...You are my hero.
E...You are my example.
R...You are my rock.

-K. Williams

Here is how we have celebrated Father's Day in the past and a tribute I had written to my own father.

Feel free to print this out and stick this into your Father's Day card!

Have a Happy Father's Day and don't forget to honor the special men in your life!

Father's Day is not celebrated until September, in Australia, however, it was my husband's birthday last week and my children made him a special card. We called it 'My Father's Hands'.
The twins created hand prints and the older children wrote out all the ways they could think of in which their dad used his hands to bless his family. This really helped them to express their love and appreciation ... the ideas just flowed, so many, we could not fit them all on his card, so I had to write a blog post 'A Father's Hands' as a tribute, with all the extra sentiments! There are pictures of the card and scripture references to hands and I would be honoured if anyone used this idea to honour and bless a father!

Wonderful quotes! We're not celebrating Father's Day until next Sunday. Our oldest son got married Saturday out of town, so next Sunday Dad gets to shine! You've inspired me:)

The father's role is so critical in the foundation and future lives or our kids. We've been reading a great new, actually renewed book, I think all dads with daughters would enjoy. We're loving it, so I have to share... It's called “She Calls Me Daddy: 7 Things You Need to Know About Building a Complete Daughter,” by Robert Wolgemuth. Originally released in the 90s, it was a best seller. His girls are grown up and give their own input along with their husbands who are daddies to girls. I understand 40% of the book is new material. It's so unique in this way. Robert puts the anxieties of Daddy raising his girl(s) to rest, guiding you through challenges and good times – protecting, conversation, affection, discipline, laughter, faith, conduct. So great for helping daddies learn to lead, love and cherish. I highly recommend it! http://www.tyndale.com/She-Calls-Me-Daddy/9781589977853#.U7jH414Q7wI
