Meek and Humble?

Women are called to be meek and humble -- gentle and quiet.

So opposite of the examples of the daughters of Zion in Isaiah's day (verse 3:16-26) :

"...Because the daughters of Zion are haughty, and walk with outstretched necks and wanton eyes, walking and mincing as they go, making a jingling with their feet, Therefore the Lord will strike with a scab the crown of the head of the daughters of Zion, and the Lord will uncover their secret parts.'

In that day the Lord will take away the finery: the jingling anklets, the scarves, and the crescents; The pendants, the bracelets, and the veils; The headdresses, the leg ornaments, and the headbands; the perfume boxes, the charms, and the rings; the nose jewels, the festal apparel, and the mantles; the outer garments, the purses, and the mirrors; the fine linen, the turbans, and the robes.

And so it shall be: instead of a sweet smell there will be a stench; instead of a sash, a rope; instead of well-set hair, baldness; instead of a rich robe, a girding of sackcloth; and branding instead of beauty. Your men shall fall by the sword, and your mighty in the war. Her gates shall lament and mourn, and she being desolate shall sit on the ground."

Are we haughty?

Do we walk with outstretched necks?

Are we all about what we wear on the outside?

Do we have wanton eyes?

WANTON---adjective:

-
done, shown, used, etc., maliciously or unjustifiably: a wanton attack; wanton cruelty.
-
deliberate and without motive or provocation; uncalled-for; headstrong; willful

-without regard for what is right, just, humane, etc.; careless; reckless: a wanton attacker of religious convictions.
-
sexually lawless or unrestrained; loose; lascivious; lewd: wanton behavior.

-extravagantly or excessively luxurious, as a person, manner of living, or style.

A daughter of Sarah or a daughter of Zion.....

which one are you?

June, What a beautiful blog! I am so glad that I "happened" upon it today. (Of course I don't think anything happens by chance. God is directing my path.)
I have always wanted to possess a meek and quiet spirit. This is something I desire and work towards with the help of the Holy Spirt of course. I truly desire to be the woman, and wife, mother and grandmother that God wants me to be.
This blog takes me on a journey and I enjoy every minute. I became one of your many followers today,...and I will be back.
Blessings!

I really needed this reminder today. God has recently reminded me of SO much I need to improve and change in order to be the women HE wants me to be, and not what the world wants. Thank you so much for this timely reminder.

Excellent post indeed!

One thing I am training myself to do in the 'meek and humble' department is to *think* before I answer.

Normally we all are so used to gabbing on and on and even interupting folks to get our point across and it's just rude, know what I mean?

But if we allow ourselves to think before we answer, it will save us much heartache and even embarrasment.
Plus it allows the other person to really be heard.

May we all strive to be that meek and quiet woman the Bible calls us to be.

Such truth. And something so many lack today. So sad that morals today are sadly lacking and that young ladies (and older ladies) are no longer taught these fine virtues. I wasn't and the Lord is now teaching them to me after one ruined marriage and I nearly ruined another.
