There are so many things to enjoy about fall and one of my favorites has to be creating a cozy atmosphere for my loved ones.
This is not something we do out of obligation but out of love from our hearts. We want to make our homes a safe haven and a place or rest and peace from the world to bless our families and help them to refresh, recharge and rejuvenate.
Here are a few ideas to help implement this in your home:
A peaceful spirit & prayer - It is a pleasure to come home to a peaceful woman who has been praying over her home and ready to bless others. With Christ as center of our homes this is possible. Let us always remember to fill our homes with an abundance of His love that will overflow to others in our home.
Soft music - Isn't it wonderful that calm and soft music has a relaxing effect on ourselves and our children? I like playing relaxing music with no lyrics while my children are doing school and it helps them to focus better. It also calms me too! I love the quietness it brings to my home at any time of the day that I choose to put it on. It is especially relaxing at dinner.
Soft glow - Turn on the fireplace and enjoying the crackling embers (if you don't have one you can play one on your TV through Youtube). We also have white lights in trees and fall garlands that we light up for a cozy ambiance. I love, love, love this fall tree with lights pictured below:
These warm light birch trees are so cute too:
Candles - I know that some of you love getting the fall scents at Yankee Candle or Bath & Bodyworks.
They come in pumpkin, cinnamon, apple and more. If you have small children you might use flameless candles (I love this scented set below that is operated by a remote) or place maple leaf lights around your home.
Warm decor - change out your summer decor and put out your fall decor! Set out warm colored tones (like swap out a white pillow with a burgundy or fall themed pillow) and make sure you clear up any clutter so things are nice and clutter free. Don't forget to replace your summer flowers with mums. If you have a front porch you can decorate it to be more welcoming with pumpkins, more mums, haybales, scarecrows, and dried cornstalks.
Bring the outdoors in - go on a walk with your children and gather pinecones, acorns, crabapples, pine tree branches, and red berries to display on a table or in a bowl when you come home.
Snuggling - when I think of fall I think of books and throws to snuggle up in. So be sure to pull out your fall throws for the season or grab a or blanket, pop some popcorn and watch a favorite movie.

Here is a great list of fall books for small children if you need some inspiration. If your children like to read alone here is a list of wholesome books for boys and girls.
Scents - You can also make your home smell amazing using this easy fall potpourri or this essential oil recipe in your diffuser.
Hot & hearty food - whether you love baking cookies, cinnamon rolls or pies, or maybe making hot soups or casseroles--food is always a welcoming sight on a table after a long day.
You can find some great fall recipes that are also healthy out there, I am looking forward to trying some fall recipes in this cookbook.
Warm drinks - Pull out the mugs! Hot cocoa, coffee, and tea helps to warm the heart and soul so be sure to have some on hand and don't forget the marshmallows.
Traditions - spend some time planning out some fall traditions you can do to make memories with your family. Have a family meeting and share ideas or use this fun filled list here.
Family games - sometimes it's just fun to get back to the basics in a world full of technology that can be distracting. Turn off the tablets and enjoy a quiet night of playing board games or cards or-- if you want to get a little loud and go crazy you can have fun doing some fall minute-to-win-it games!

Great post, but now I want some hot chocolate!
I've always loved decorating for fall. I found some small gold lights a few years ago and I wind them up in a fall leaf garland on my mantle. It just transforms the whole room into a big nest. I also love that my husband will ask "when are you going to put up the little lights?" He loves them as much as I do.
I filled some clear jars with tiny pine cones and red berries. My dining room centerpiece is a branch that broke off the birch in the wind! I tucked it into a vase & filled it with clear & orange pebbles. I've been thinking of gluing some little crinkled orange tissues to the branches to mimic leaves.
And the cozy blankets are on the sofa, of course.
I'm still going to need some hot chocolate. :)
We have the house decorated with Fall pictures, pumpkins (one real pumpkin),scarecrows and leaves. Love reading Autumn books. I have read two Amish Fall books.
