We are continuing our reading Summer Reading Series with 5 Leadership Books by John Maxwell who is also a pastor of over 40 years and a business leader. If you haven't read anything by him yet, I highly recommend him!
Over the years my husband and I have helped filled various roles in the church. We have taught classes, helped to plant a church, and much more. With all the different types of ministry we were involved in the books I am sharing today have been some of our favorites and have been so encouraging as we have grown. My husband still enjoys these books as he is a manager over 700 people at his job and finds that the Christian guidance coupled with scripture is inspiring for his role there and at home as a husband and father.
I personally think these books are very helpful for anyone, even if you are a stay at home mom or just wanting to improve yourself or your leadership skills.
So let's begin!
5 LEADERSHIP BOOKS BY JOHN MAXWELL
1. THE 21 MOST POWERFUL MINUTES IN A LEADER'S DAY
While a few people appear to be born leaders, the ability to lead is actually a collection of skills, nearly all of which can be learned and sharpened. Based on his New York Times bestseller The 21 Irrefutable Laws of Leadership, author John C. Maxwell presents a daily plan to help you grow as a leader in your personal, professional, and spiritual life.
2. DEVELOPING THE LEADERS AROUND YOU
Why do some people achieve great personal success, yet never succeed in building a business or making an impact in their organization? John C. Maxwell knows the answer. “The greatest leadership principle that I have ever learned in over twenty-five years of leadership,” says Maxwell, “is that those closest to the leader will determine the success level of that leader.” It’s not enough for a leader to have vision, energy, drive, and conviction. If you want to see your dream come to fruition, you must learn how to develop the leaders around you.

3. DEVELOPING THE LEADER WITHIN YOU
Developing the Leader Within You is Dr. Maxwell’s first and most enduring leadership book, having sold more than one million copies. In this Christian Leaders Series edition of this Maxwell classic, you will discover the biblical foundation for leadership that John Maxwell has used as a pastor and business leader for more than forty years. These same principles and practices are available for everyday leaders in every walk of life. It is a lofty calling to lead a group—a family, a church, a nonprofiT, a business—and the timeless principles in this book will bring positive change in your life and in the lives of those around you.

4. FAILING FORWARD: TURNING MISTAKES INTO STEPPING STONES FOR SUCCESS
Most people are never prepared to deal with failure. Maxwell says that if you are like him, coming out of school, you feared it, misunderstood it, and ran away from it. But Maxwell has learned to make failure his friend, and he can teach you to do the same.
"I want to help you learn how to confidently look the prospect of failure in the eye and move forward anyway," says Maxwell. "Because in life, the question is not if you will have problems, but how you are going to deal with them. Stop failing backward and start failing forward!"

5. NO LIMITS: BLOW THE CAP OFF YOUR CAPACITY
In his newest book, John Maxwell identifies 17 core capacities. Some of these are abilities we all already possess, such as energy, creativity and leadership. Others are aspects of our lives controlled by our choices, like our attitudes, character, and intentionality. Maxwell examines each of these capacities, and provides clear and actionable advice on how you can increase your potential in each. He will guide you on how to identify, grow, and apply your critical capacities. Once you've blown the "cap" off your capacities, you'll find yourself more successful--and fulfilled--in your daily life.
This book just came out in March 2017!
