Reformation Day Faire 2011

Our family recently attended the Reformation Day Faire in Morton, Illinois hosted by Providence Church. I wanted to share a few pictures and video of our weekend with you:

Great speakers included Pastor James McDonald, Marcus Serven, and Bill Potter

The church put up castle wall on their church and recreated a historical Town Square
(click on the picture or any other to view larger images)

Many lovely maidens could be found...

Boffer wars were enjoyed by the boys, here are the younger boys participating, then they had they older boys and then the men go against eachother on teams. They also had a Caber toss and other engaging games of the era.

Beautiful hand made decor and great vendors were on hand...

They had singing, psalmody instruction, a talented quartet and Nathan George Clark perform.

Mr. Candler teaching how to dip candles and other tables were available along with real leather stamping, coloring, chess, etc.

Only a few pictures were taken of me--here they caught me (on the right)  chatting with my friend, Dinora Ruiz.

They served hot cocoa outdoors and had an special dinner courtesy of Stacy McDonald and her hardworking team

Here is some dancing outdoors to Scottish bagpipes...just lovely!

They held the Reformation ball dancing at a gym this year and the Duff sisters called the dances. We were blessed to stay with them at the hospitable home of the sweet Bandy family.

Thank you for looking at our pictures!

Have a blessed day!

It looks like you had a wonderful time. I heard it was a nice faire. We wanted to go so badly but it is so far from AZ. ;o)

We have been blessed to experience the hospitality of the Bandy's!

Thanks for sharing your photos.

Jacinda,

We had great fun making the costumes and always look for ways to make it new and simpler every year. I think this was probably the easiest year for costumes for us---now we are working on pilgrim and Indian costumes!

Many blessings...

Looks like a great time my children would love something like that.

June I love your Rose wrist flower in the pic of you? Did you make it? If so what did you attach it to so you could put it on your wrist?
