We complain because we don’t trust God.
Six ways complaining comes from doubting:
1. We complain because we believe God is withholding some good from us that we deserve.
2. We complain because we don’t think God will come through for us.
3. We complain because we believe that the treasures of earth we’re missing really are better than the joy of knowing Christ.
4. We complain because we believe that we should be the center of the universe, not God.
5. We complain because we believe there is a better life owed to us than what the sovereign God has given us.
6. We complain because we refuse to see the incredible kindness God has shown to us today.
Complaining isn’t an acceptable attitude for blood-bought Christians. We should seek to have the attitude of Jesus, who set his face forward to serve God and rejoice in God, no matter the circumstances.
Stop living like an atheist and embrace the Christ-like way of joyful gratitude.
So put off complaining — it dishonors the God who made all things.
And put on thankfulness — giving glory to the God who has not even withheld his own Son from us.
Because God IS good.
He’s going to keep his promises.
And he (really, really) is our greatest treasure.
