Titus 2 Time: Growing Older & Wiser

We have started doing some new Bible studies here so that we can look closely at the Word and think about it through the week. I am going to share some that I have done at home with the kids that I already have on hand. They will be simple, one post, and to the point! If we want to be wise women who fear the Lord we have to know His Word and study it.

Today I want to talk about growing older and wiser. I will be turning fifty-three soon and so much changes as you age.  We all know that growing older doesn't always mean you are wise but with God's word to guide us we become wise as we follow Him. We live in a world that doesn't want to get older or even at times respect the elderly, but we need not put our hope in things that are fleeting, but in the Lord.  So we need to look to His Word.

Here are a few Bible verses to look at and examine closely. Take time to read them, study them, write them down if possible and memorize them. His Word is a treasure to be hidden in our hearts.

Proverbs 16:31

Gray hair is a crown of glory; it is gained in a righteous life.

Isaiah 46:4

Even to your old age I am he, and to gray hairs I will carry you. I have made, and I will bear; I will carry and will save.

Psalm 92:12-15

The righteous flourish like the palm tree and grow like a cedar in Lebanon. They are planted in the house of the Lord; they flourish in the courts of our God. They still bear fruit in old age; they are ever full of sap and green, to declare that the Lord is upright; he is my rock, and there is no unrighteousness in him.

Leviticus 19:32

“You shall stand up before the gray head and honor the face of an old man, and you shall fear your God: I am the Lord.

Job 32:9

It is not the old who are wise, nor the aged who understand what is right?

The glory of young men is their strength, but the splendor of old men is their gray hair.

Titus 2:3-5

Older women likewise are to be reverent in behavior, not slanderers or slaves to much wine. They are to teach what is good, and so train the young women to love their husbands and children, to be self-controlled, pure, working at home, kind, and submissive to their own husbands, that the word of God may not be reviled.

Isaiah 46:4

Even to your old age I am he, and to gray hairs I will carry you. I have made, and I will bear; I will carry and will save.

Job 12:12

Wisdom is with the aged, and understanding in length of days.

ACTION STEPS

Ladies, as you grow older here are a few steps for you:

1. Be grateful for your many years and that the Lord has blessed you with them. Use these precious years to serve Him!

2. Love the Lord and stay on His path. Don't be lured into sin and temptation and stay saturated in His Word. Develop you time in the Word and time in prayer.

3. Seek ways to bless others--what acts of kindness can you do? Can you encourage someone? Pray for them? Bring someone a gift? Come along side someone and support them?

PRAYER

Dear Lord, help us as we grow older to be wise women that glorify you with our actions and deeds. There is so much temptation in the world and so many voices that will lead us astray if we are not careful. Let us be grounded in your Word and your truth. Protect us from all that would keep us from you and help us to be faithful and steadfast in our walk with You. We need to remember that our hope is in You and not in this world or anything in it.  We thank you so much for all that you have done for us and are doing for us right now. Help us to bless others and serve them and we ask all of this in Jesus' name. Amen.

Do you need a Bible? Read this post!

Have you trusted in Christ as your Savior? If not, I want to share this with you.
