We like to do memory verses once a week, this gives them time to practice and memorize. They get a special treat for memorizing as we'll. the challenges would be on how to get my youngest two involved.

At meal times we read the same chapter or verses over and over until they know them.

I am new to this site and am searching for unique ways to learn and teach bible verses. We use the usual flash cards and reading the Bible over and over, repeating the verses during the day.

We have a memory verse box(an index card box with card dividers)with memory verses on index cards divided into Daily, Odd & Even Days, Each Day of the Week and Numbers 1-30. As a family we are always learning a new memory verse. When we have learned it it goes into Odd and each verse gets moved back one space. Every day we are saying the new verse we are working on, today is the Tuesday the 16th. So we will also be saying the verse in the Even, Tuesday and 16th cards. This way we are always learning a new verse and reviewing verses we already know. I found this idea at www.SimplyCharlotteMason.com .

My daughter is incredibly easy to teach bible verses. I tell her to remember it, and then quote and have her repeat, and she knows it.
My son we have to repeat several times over several days. But that method seems to work the best for them -- possibly because of age, they are 4 and 2.

we love using repetitive ways to memorize scripture. including saying them out loud to one another and writing them. the abc say it with me dvd will be a great tool for helping our littles!

I struggle with having the time to sit with them and study verses. I have a 5 week old as well as a 4 and 2 year old. Keeping their attention is also a challenge.

When teaching my little ones Scripture- we mostly say it over and over- with an explanation with how to apply it to our lives. It usually takes a week to learn. My oldest daughter was very good at memorizing Scripture- and had been #1 in Jr Bible Quiz for all of Mississippi at one time :) It is a struggle though- what comes naturally for some doesn't for all of them.

I teach my 5 year old by making a verse into a song. Works great with her Awana Cubbies verses!

One way that we have found to learn a large passage of Scripture is to read it aloud together daily until we know it forwards and backwards, inside & out, when awake or asleep, lol! In about 4 months usually, any one of us can recite a whole chapter and/or book etc.

I teach with repetition and bracelets with the verse on them everyone they show of their bracelets its an opportunity to recite verse again.... :)

The maple syrup DVD looks cute. :)

I have been thinking of getting one of the ABC Bible verse books for my preschooler. This looks like it would work great too. She practically has all the movies she watches memorized. :)

This looks very cool. :)

I am just trying to get into teaching my oldest, 2 1/2, Bible verses. She practically memorizes word for word all the movies she watches, so this would be great. :)

The Moore Family maple syrup DVD looks very cute. :)

I make up songs for verses. We have Scripture throughout our home. We also participate in AWANA. I did AWANA growing up and have so many verses memorized. We also listen to Seeds Family Worship CD's, which are excellent!

We do a daily family worship (My Bible First) that has a memory verse for the week. I like to do hand motions to go with it and often will make it into a little song so it's easier to remember. My kids love to do the motions and sing their memory verse each day.

We work on a memory verse each week. We say it often and every day. We make up actions go to along with the verse.

I am a grandmother and think this would be a wonderful gift for my 3 darling grandchildren. This is the only type of movie or show I would recommend for them to watch. May God bless you and your families efforts in teaching the youth of today the scriptures.

I have a hard time with consistency and neither my son nor I seem to be very good at memorizing scripture. I would really like to find a way to stay consistent and something that works to help us memorize scripture.

We haven't done this, but I'd love to start!

We use hide 'em in your heart cd by Steve Green and also just going over a verse each day until we memorize. I'm going to start using the scripture memory box system found at simplycharlottemason.com. It's free and she even has printable tabbed dividers for it.

Just what I needed to get the kids learning more.

I am currently going through the "Prove It" chatechism with my 5 kids. We just repeat the verse over and over until they get it. We review all the verses on Friday. They have learned so many that review day is quite long. 😀But well worth it.

Jennie said...

we like to do a memory verse per week for school and then they have their wednesday night church verses. my FAVORITE thing is when they recall the verses at troubling times or just everyday things and they are even using them in the right context. :) puts a smile on this mommas face!

We have some cds with Bible verses set to music that I love!

Bible verse songs have been a great way to learn single verses: Seeds Family Worship, Songs for Saplings, No Greater Joy's ABC Bible verse CD and Steve Green's 'Hide em in your Heart'. We have also been learning longer passages as a family by saying the verses together at the meal table. If I won this I would like to pass it on to my sister-in-law for her children.
