Grow Closer to the Lord: One Thing I Desire Book and Giveaway! ***NOW CLOSED***

"It is important for me to frequently examine my heart, especially in the busy seasons of life, to make sure that Christ is truly "the apple of my eye"--at the forefront of my desires, thoughts, purposes and actions.

Closely monitoring my heart that has been vital for my spiritual ardency and revival, for so easily evanescent "idols" creep in and cloud my spiritual desire and love for God. How prone to wander is this human heart! Refocusing on that most vital party of my day--sitting at the feet of my Master in the Word--helps me to keep an eternal focus on what truly matters in the short breath of life.

I must frequently ask the Lord to "awaken" my heart with zeal for Him and to give me more grace to love Him more, echoing Psalm 119:88, "quicken me after Thy loving kindness; so shall I keep the testimony of thy mouth."

This is an excerpt of the timely book that I have been reading through this past week called One Thing I Desire: To Know Christ More by Sarah L. Bryant of The King's Blooming Rose Ministries.

This book has been a blessing to me in so many ways as I turned and found page after page of timeless and substantial truths that reminded me of the abounding grace and mercy that in the person, character, and overflowing love of Christ.

I am not one who enjoys much fluff in my reading and was delighted to find that this book proved to be powerful as the Word of God saturated it's chapters, focusing the reader's heart to look inward in humble self examination and ultimately pointing upward in encouraging exhortation to guide us towards our merciful and loving Savior.

Sarah has a deep desire to know the Lord and her hunger for Him shines through as she reaches our hearts through its pages.

One Thing I Desire is  is now on sale for $10 (reg.$11)! You can find it HERE.

You may also remember Sarah when I shared her book  The Family Daughter last year and also  mentioned then that she is also the founder and editor of The King's Blooming Rose Magazine. I was very blessed to "meet" Miss Sarah Lee Bryant, creator/editor of The King's Blooming Rose magazine, this past summer by reading through all past issues of her very excellent journal for young ladies. I believe she was only a 12 yr. old girl when she began using her God-given talents for writing/inspiring her peers. As I read from the first to most current issue, I marveled while witnessing the spiritual growth and maturity she portrayed in her articles and editor's page over the course of several (8?) years. She has chosen various quarterly guest-writers who also display a deeply committed, godly lifestyle and surrendered heart for Jesus! (One such young girl I admire is Miss Elizabeth of JoyfulJewels4Jesus blogspot.) Many of these young writers contribute frequently... they range in age from young teen to newly married. Occasionally, a mature mom/Grandma will have wonderful words of wisdom and direction and loving encouragement included in an issue.

I just cannot recommend a Christian girls' journal any higher than I do The King's Blooming Rose. It is unique in it's point-of-view in that you will not find advice on how to apply your best color of lip gloss or what shade of hair tint is best this time of year (hee). The p-o-v is JESUS our KING and our HEARTS surrendered to HIM. Each issue gives deep food for thought and urges young ladies forward in their position as DAUGHTERS of a KING!

You will be happy to find in each issue some wonderful recipes (which led to the publishing of a new cookbook), advice from Mrs. Bryant regarding natural methods of self-care, an occasional craft instruction, and photos contributions sent in by many of the talented readers. Miss Bryant is an accomplished photographer herself and you will find her business information on her website.

I plan to keep all of my back-issues and use them as I work with young ladies in my church. I am a 53 yr. old woman and though I have an extensive Christian book collection in my home, the articles found in The King's Blooming Rose shall be among my top resources not only for my OWN life's spiritual edification, but for high-caliber research material as I teach the good news that young ladies who worship at the feet of Jesus their King are the lovliest flowers in His garden.

Most importantly, I want to thank Miss Bryant for being faithful in her ministry to young (and old like me *~) women. She is a missionary in a "far country" wherein girls are confused and have lost sight of the purpose for which God created them. She holds up a lantern of bright truth that is both shining and appealing and which leads out a long line of girls wanting to follow in her footsteps climbing upward to Higher Ground. Thank you for your example, Miss Sarah Lee Bryant!

Our family has had a summer and fall of attack after attack, and in the chaos of just surviving, I haven't kept up with my Jesus like I should've. Like any Friend, if you don't connect, distance grows. I want to reconnect.

The name of this book really called out to me. The ONE thing I desire is that my son (and any other children we have) follows the Lord with all his heart, mind and strength! In order for that to happen, I must be the mother who has the same desire within her heart. Oh, yes I do love the Lord. But oh how I fall away from placing Him first.

Thank you!
