4 Need-to-Read Warnings about Busyness

"My life is so busy--I wake up and hit the floor running. There are so many things to do that I always feel like my head is spinning and I feel completely burnt out and overwhelmed. I don't have energy at the end of the day for my husband, children, and home. I have literally stopped reading my Bible and I feel like my spiritual life has taken a hit. How did my life come to this and why do I feel so out of control?"

Have you ever felt like this mom?

It is easy to let the busyness and burdens take over our lives. If we are not careful our lives can get off balance and we can ignore the very things that are the most important things if we don't guard our time.

Take a moment to read what these men have to say about the dangers of busyness:

"So don’t ignore the physical danger of busyness. Just remember the most serious threats are spiritual. When we are crazy busy, we put our souls at risk. The challenge is not merely to make a few bad habits go away. The challenge is not to let our spiritual lives slip away."  - Kevin DeYounh

"You wake up one day to realize that you are busier than you've ever been, but no deeper in the things of God than you were years ago."   - Anonymous

"The weight of so many responsibilities and distractions - even the worthwhile ones - has a crushing effect on a person's relationship with Christ. It ruins our taste for spiritual things. It suppresses our exuberance for spiritual service. It suffocates our passion for pursuing Christ and the intimate relationship He offers. It all grinds away at our soul. Eventually, following Jesus starts to lose its luster. The blessings and joys of walking with Him are crowded out by myriad tiny details of life."   - JM

"And as men’s diversions increase from the world, so do their entanglements from Satan. When they have more to do in the world than they can well manage, they shall have more to do from Satan than they can well withstand."   - John Owen

What great reminders to protect our time diligently--something that is increasingly hard to do in this age! The last quote reminds me of our children and how we need to also teach them to be use time wisely. It is easy for children who have too much time on their hands use that time unwisely and allowing themselves to go down a wrong path. How important it is to teach them to watch over this important aspect of their lives!

Ladies, for us personally though, we always need to check what out priorities are in order:

-God
-husband
-children
-home
-extras

When our priorities in place everything else falls together. I realize that at times there are exceptions that we need to consider that might not be the norm, in these cases we truly need to be prayerful. We also need to examine our schedules and decide what should stay and what should go. It is wise to sacrifice the "good things" in our order to say "yes" to the best things in our lives. Something is always sacrificed when we take on too much and, sadly, we often realize it when it is too late!

So be wise, ladies, in guarding your time---your most precious commodity. Because once time is spent you cannot get it back.  It is a gift from God meant to bless you, not overwhelm you. Eliminate what is unnecessary and ask God to give you wisdom on how to order your days. He will guide your steps, bring peace,  and help restore the balance that is needed in your life.
