A Wise Woman Puts on Patience

Do you struggle with patience?

You are not alone--so many of us do and struggle with it in many different ways.

Maybe with your husband, or children, or driving your car, or facing challenges throughout the course of a day.

Maybe you grew up in a house of hotheads where you learned their ways.

And now you want to learn more self control.

But you feel it is out of reach.

As a young mom I struggled with having patience with my husband and children, especially in the early years. I have grown better in this area--not perfect, but definitely better.

With many children you get a lot of practice and learn a lot of humility as God grows you too. Remember that you are a work in progress and that He is not done with you yet! So give yourself some grace and mercy as He continues to refine you in this area.

Here are some helpful Bible verses that are helpful:

Whoever is patient has great understanding, but one who is quick-tempered displays folly. ~Proverbs 14:29

A hot-tempered person stirs up conflict, but the one who is patient calms a quarrel.

~Proverbs 15:18

Better a patient person than a warrior, one with self-control than one who takes a city. ~Proverbs 16:32

A person’s wisdom yields patience: it is to one’s glory to overlook an offense.

~Proverbs 19:11

But if we hope for what we do not yet have, we wait for it patiently.

~ Romans 8:25

Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer.
~Romans 12:12

Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud.
~1 Corinthians 13:4

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,  gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law.
~ Galatians 5:22-3

Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love.
~Ephesians 4:2

Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience.
~Colossians 3:12

And we urge you, brothers and sisters, warn those who are idle and disruptive, encourage the disheartened, help the weak, be patient with everyone.
1 Thessalonians 5:14

I encourage you to memorize God's Word to help bring change into your life.

I hope that this post was an encouragement to you.

Here is a prayer for you:

Dear God, please help us all to have more patience and show Your love to others. Patience and love can open the door of the Gospel to others while lack of patience can make others put up walls. We want to draw others to You so please help us to do that. Please forgive us of our lack of patience and help us to grow in this area. We thank You for what you have done and what You are going to do and give You praise through it all. We ask this in the holy name of Jesus. Amen.

Yes! Patience is something I do struggle with. And anger. I guess they are related. And meditating on His Word is something that helps so much! Are you familiar with the Bible Memory App (https://biblememory.com/)? My husband and I and our oldest 3 kids use it and it has changed the way we are able to memorize Scripture! And therefore meditate on it.

Thanks for the encouragement!

Blessings,
