Poetry Tea Time is Back !



I am so happy to be bringing these posts back again this year!

I SO wanted to share some themed Poetry Tea Time posts during the holidays but we never got a chance to slip them in.

Everyone seemed to really enjoy our First Poetry Tea Time (pictured below) that I shared late last year so I hope you will join me this year too!



This time around some of the children were recovering from colds and there was a water main break in the neighborhood so they had shut off our water to work on it and then we were on a boil order. I can tell you that with a family of 11 that was not fun and actually happened 3 times within the last month. Ugh--not fun.

I think the Lord was showing me how I needed to work on patience and being more flexible. In other words-- I really needed a lot of prayer when it was shut down because it was just mentally stretching.

So when the kids begged to do another Poetry Tea Time, I didn't use tea, cocoa, juice, or anything like that. We just used bottled water instead.

I know--hard to believe, right?





But it was okay, my kids loved it and I was happy and that is all that counts!

The beauty of Poetry Tea Time, you can do it any way that you want to do it. It can be super fancy or just very simple and no frills.

You can use pretty tea plates or you can use paper plates.

You can use homemade desserts from scratch:


 Or you can get them from the store:



It doesn't have to be perfect to take place.

The whole point of it is just to have fun, read some good poems and books, fan a flame to love reading, and make some wonderful memories.

Don't forget to light a candle if you have one!

I also love when we get to get a bit of history and culture into a good poem book as well!



And something enjoyable for the younger ones, don't forget them!



The children will just remember the fun times you had when you took the time to be together. Let me tell you that my older boys are growing so fast and I just really cherish these days when we can slow down and be together just doing slow and just being.

It is such a fun way to teach art!



I actually did a full review on this recently--you can find the post here in case you'd like to read about how it works. They have many other boxes for subjects like History, Math, Inventions, Dinosaurs, etc. I definitely would like to get some more this year!



I can't get over how much the kids enjoy playing this game--there is always so much laughter!

Soon they will grow and you will wish for this precious time together.

Thank you for this beautiful post! We used to do this more frequently and lately my eight year old son has been asking to start up again!
