This past year has been a doozy, hasn't it?
Who would have known what this year would have brought forth...only the Lord knew.
I know there has been a lot of worry and fear for the last few months for many of you.
I know that times have been hard.
I know that you have been wanting to cry or have cried (many times).
I know that you feel stretched to capacity.
I know that you feel alone.
But I want you to lift your eyes.
Lift them up to the Great Comforter.
Your King.
He knows your pain and suffering.
He knows the number of every strand of hair on your head.
Don't for one minute think that He doesn't care and doesn't know.
"God is our refuge and strength,
A very present help in trouble.
Therefore we will not fear, though the earth should change
And though the mountains slip into the heart of the sea;
Though its waters roar and foam,
Though the mountains quake at its swelling pride. Selah." -Psalm 46:3
I will say to the Lord, “My refuge and my fortress,
My God, in whom I trust!” - Psalm 91:2
“The eternal God is a dwelling place,
And underneath are the everlasting arms;
And He drove out the enemy from before you,
And said, ‘Destroy!’ - Deuteronomy 33:27
God is our refuge and strength,
A very present help in trouble. - Psalm 46:1
In the fear of the Lord there is strong confidence,
And his children will have refuge. Proverbs 14:26
The name of the Lord is a strong tower;
The righteous runs into it and is safe. Proverbs 18:10
The Lord is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer,
My God, my rock, in whom I take refuge;
My shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold. - Psalm 18:2
You can have peace in the storm by putting your trust in the Savior. This world is not our home. Heaven is our home and we can rest in that truth.
Don't give Satan a foothold.
I like this quote from Stonewall Jackson that my husband shared with me the other day:
“My religious beliefs teach me to feel as safe in battle as in bed. God has fixed the time of my death. I do not concern myself with that, but to be always ready whenever it may overtake me. That is the way all men should live, and all men would be equally brave."
A few steps to calm the storm in your heart right now:
1. TURN OFF THE TV, NEWS & SOCIAL MEDIA
Things don't always need to be on. Sometime we fill our minds and hearts with so many things that we are so full of unrest when we need to focus on the Lord. Clear your minds and take a break if needed. It's okay to rest and take care of yourself.
2. FIND TIME FOR GOD AND HIS WORD
Saturate yourself, ladies, saturate! Psalms is a wonderful book to go through at this time.
3. PRAY
Commune with God and bring all your worries and fears to Him. He knows the future and your future is in His hands.
You can trust Him.
You are not alone.
Fear not.
For He loves you deeply.
