A Peek Inside My Life

(me and my husband spending time with extended family)

I am so glad I have a bit of free time to share this post with you.  The holidays get so busy but I wanted to take the time to connect with you all and I know that sharing pictures of my life helps to do that!

And just a quick note that we are taking a break from the Wise Woman Linkups until further notice. We always take a break in December and I will announce when we start it up again next year.

Now onto the photos:

This was one of our Thanksgiving Dinner table photos for 2019, my husband was taking the picture. My brother-in-law hosted at his house and we all brought dishes to share. Bella and Christian made the Turkey cookies this year. We made our famous Taffy Apple Snickers fluffy fruit salad since that is what was requested.

This year the boys took part in their first annual Turkey Bowl before we went to our Thanksgiving dinner. It was so fun and they even played against their coaches. I went out and watched them with my husband. Thankfully it wasn't too cold and it was great seeing the boys play with their team again even though some were out of town for the holiday. My boys love football and can't wait for next year's season to begin. I have to be honest with you--I can't wait either. I have never been a football fan but it is truly different when you have your sons playing on the team. Now I am a big fan and really enjoying even watching games at home with them.

My boys have also started playing basketball this season. It has been fun to be a part of their games and see them play. It has also been character building for them as well (even teaching them humility and working as part of a team). Here is the JV and Varsity teams praying before the games begin. They play for a Christian school and their coaches are youth pastors.

But I have to say that the biggest news is that my three youngest sons just recently got baptized! Here you see from left to right--Christian, Josiah, Joshua, and my husband, Steve.

It was such a blessing to hear their testimonies and help them into the water along with their grandparents! It is also so comforting to know that the Lord will work in the lives of our children in spite of us.

(ME and Nana on the left and Papa and Steve on the right baptizing Christian, this is a screenshot of the video and worship service so that is why you see lyrics on the picture)

That very same day it blessed my heart so much to see my son's praying at the altar with their cousin. They initially went up their to pray over their Papa and his family who are not seen here. It just really brought me to tears because I remember bringing my oldest son to church when he was just born in the infant carrier and it was such a wonderful sight to see him twenty years later bowing and raising his hands to God. I have so much to be thankful for and this was a truly humbling day.

We ended up having a party over at our house to celebrate that and my son's twentieth birthday! The kids had a blast and took their cousin's ice skating that day.

Another thing that we recently did was visit  the Christmas Around the World exhibit in Chicago. I am going to do a post on that separately because I took a ton of pictures for you, but I have to say it was gorgeous and I was so glad to get out there and see it again!

And lastly, I have been trying to get over a cough for the last two months that just won't go away. Last year I had something similar and it took 3 months to finally get rid of it. Then this week I came down with a nasty cold so I have been trying to take it easy and just stay home for the most part! I would really appreciate your prayers for healing.

I have been filling up on chicken soup, Airborne (this was the 3-pack), cough drops, hot tea and raw honey and plenty of good old-fashioned rest. I even missed the boy's basket ball game last night but glad the Lord blessed them with a win anyways! It's just that time of year when something is going around and there is not much you can do about it!

So what have *you* been up to?

Please share in the comments below.

I hope you enjoyed our pictures!

  1. So very sorry you have had a cold for so long. That's rough. I'm taking the emergen-c product. It does seem to help me keep me healthier toward colds and flu.

    Praying for you.

    All the best!
