It Is Your Business

"You cannot control your children, you say.
Then the Lord have mercy on you!
It is your business to do it,
and you must do it,
or else you will soon find they will control you.

No one knows what judgment
will come from God
upon those who allow
sin in children
to go
unrebuked."

~ C.H. Spurgeon,

Prince of Preachers

Amen, amen and amen! My son got in trouble for lying last week, guess what he had to do? Paint every fence on our property, and let me tell you we have tons of fences, he is still not done! We believe the word concerning our children...

Thanks for the reinforcement of your lovely and timely post!

Dear June,
I saw your post come up and had to come over and say How TRUE it is....Our Children are often looked at as if they were part of a circus act..like the Bearded Lady...something so amazing that has never been seen before...OBEDIENT CHILDREN..something that certaintly didn't happen under the tutelage of someone else..We as parents must take on our God given roles without compromise...

It's a blessing to see others who share the same heart...thank you for sharing..

I need to add an amen also.
What a timely reminder. May God have mercy on us if we don't take heed.
Thank you.

There is a reason the Bible says to "train up a child."

Love this!

Thank you so much for the reminder! It's easy to let little things slip, but when little things slip there are big consequences in our children's character.

Thank you! This was just the reminder I needed as I pray my way through another week with a very strong-willed toddler. Society today seems to discourage the proper training (and discipline) of children, implying that it "breaks their spirits". Your post is a wonderful reminder that God has entrusted our son and his proper upbringing to us, and we are accountable to Him in our parenting.

ay but what if you are one of the millions who started or realized to late? The habits both yours and theirs are hard ingrained - does God have mercy on us?
