Excuse This House

Some houses try to hide the fact
That children shelter there,
Ours boasts of it quite openly,
The signs are everywhere!

For smears are on the windows,
Little smudges on the door.
I should apologize I guess
For toys strewn on the floor.

But I sat down with the children
And we played and laughed and read,
And if the door bell does not shine,
Their eyes will shine instead!

For when at times I am freed to choose
The one job or the other,
I want to be a homemaker
But first I'll be a Mother!

What a great poem!!! Some people put their house first instead of their hubby's and children. A clean house is great, but spending time with precious souls is just a little slice of Heaven. The chores will be there the next day, but we never know if our family member will be there or not.

Blessings.

just getting a red on this , but wow! great poem. I must admit I get all bent out of shape when things are askew in the house, and the Holy spirit has to gently nudge me when i see my daughter begging for attention, that my priorities, not the house, are in in need of attention. Your blog is one of the most inspiring I have ever frequented. So rich in truth and wisdom and honesty- God bless you and your family abundantly.

Lovely poem. And this is what I pray my focus would become as I grow in my life as a wife, mother and homemaker.
