Being Sober-Minded in Confusing Times

These are crazy times we are living in.

Sometimes it seems as if a wave of evilness has been unleashed in the world.

It is even more important now than ever that we take the commands of God seriously.

And, friends, it starts with what we think and believe.

We need to be sober-minded.

We are warned not to let Satan take a foothold and take every thought captive.

"We destroy arguments and every lofty opinion raised against the knowledge of God, and take every thought captive to obey Christ." ~ 2 Corinthians 10:5

We can do that by getting in His word, meditating on it, and living it.

Sometime we just need to turn off the TV and social media and listen to the one voice that counts.

What does the Bible say about sober-mindedness?

Here are a few verses:

1 Peter 5:8

Be sober-minded; be watchful. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour.

1 Peter 1:13

Therefore, preparing your minds for action, and being sober-minded, set your hope fully on the grace that will be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ.

2 Timothy 4:5

As for you, always be sober-minded, endure suffering, do the work of an evangelist, fulfill your ministry.

But since we belong to the day, let us be sober, having put on the breastplate of faith and love, and for a helmet the hope of salvation.

1 Peter 4:7

The end of all things is at hand; therefore be self-controlled and sober-minded for the sake of your prayers.

Titus 2:12

Training us to renounce ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright, and godly lives in the present age...

Romans 12:2

Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.

Titus 2:2

Older men are to be sober-minded, dignified, self-controlled, sound in faith, in love, and in steadfastness.

2 Timothy 3:1-7

But understand this, that in the last days there will come times of difficulty. For people will be lovers of self, lovers of money, proud, arrogant, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, heartless, unappeasable, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not loving good, treacherous, reckless, swollen with conceit, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, having the appearance of godliness, but denying its power. Avoid such people. ...

You can read even more verses HERE.

So if you are dealing with fear, sin, anger, depression, anxiety or whatever it might be... I truly hope these verses are an encouragement to you.

What gets in the way of you being able to be sober-minded?

Be prayerful and alleviate the things that keep you from obeying God and your walk with Christ.

I am praying for you!
