Then they can urge the younger women to love their husbands and children, to be self-controlled and pure, to be busy at home, to be kind, and to be subject to their husbands, so that no one will malign the word of God." ~ Titus 2:3
When you look to culture today you see many things of unimportance being praised while the things of God are being silenced. It is so important that we use God's word as the plumb line in our lives and as we know that His will is the best for us.
I love that when I am at home that I can pour into others and make myself available to the people who mean the most to me. I love that I can prepare a home that is comfortable and restful to them.
I find that if I am running around too much that I become weary and do not always have the energy to care for my family the way that I would like. So I have learned to prioritize my time for what is important and learning to say "no" to things that would steal away from that.
If I am out too much it prevents me from being able to watch over my household the way it needs and I want to make sure I can supply my husband, children, and home with that they need. There are definitely times when I need to be out and about or our home couldn't function--but I have made it a point that as much as I can to try to guard that time that I need to be able to care for everything. It also helps with not having a meltdown from taking on too much.
Lately, a few ways that I have been being busy at home in the past month are:
- cleaning up the garage
- planning and prepping for the school year ahead
- ordering school supplies & curriculum online for 6 children (3 already graduated)
- decluttering spaces (and throwing out what I don't need)
- organizing spaces to function better
- getting the children appointments and glasses
- spending time with my husband
- one-on-one time with the children and listening to what they have to say
- getting children to ministry functions
- organizing things blog related and online work
- planning future financial needs
And the list goes on and on. You might have a list like this one or one that is very different, but either way it is important what is needed to be done in your home.
Now let me just say that I don't do this perfectly-- but I know that when I am not here things can quickly fall apart! Moms, you are truly needed in your home, to watch over it, so I encourage you to pray to God for wisdom to see what He would have you do there in your season and circumstances.
It will look different for everyone so don't feel like you have to follow a set of rules--just ask God what it will look like for you and your family and He will show you the way!

My children are grown now, but I had the problem in the past with relatives and others thinking that since I am at home I have nothing to do and I could be taken advantage of in some ways. My other siblings were "so busy" with their jobs and running around doing things (that they didn't need to do) while I was supposed to be constantly available. I think that taking care of the home properly is a very important job and I always tried to do my best for my family and for God, but much of society looks upon it as nothing if you are not making money. I just want to encourage other women who are raising children and caring for the home not to let other people put you down and discourage you from the important work that God has given to you. Right now I am busy with putting up the harvest from my garden and organizing the garage and basement since my son is getting married soon and moving his things out.

I don't mind helping others for awhile but some things seem frivolous and I know my time is better spent at home.I still try to keep a neat home and be a help-meet to my husband. That is most important to me.
When my son decided to start going through his things before his wedding, I started on cabinet and closet cleaning, pulling out his things for him to go through and seeing more space made me want to go through my things too. I enjoyed it very much.
Yes, my sentiments exactly! It is a privlege in this day and age to be able to be home. I love nothing more! I love a comfy home that is neat and tidy, and time to care for those I love.Apart from the home itself, there are animals to bath and clip, cars that need washing and vacuuming, garden to tend to etc. Amen Sister!
