The other day the children and I were having breakfast and we were talking about how quickly the month of December has flown by and how rapidly the new year is approaching us.
So I have been looking around at planners for 2018-- I use them mainly for blogging since I do most of my other planning such as family, homemaking, events on my phone. It helps me to keep them separate (so I am not overwhelmed) and definitely helps me to focus better.
If I had all these things on one planner it would definitely be more stressful, so that is why I keep things separate, I even use a separate planner for homeschooling.
A few reasons why you should use a planner are:
- Helps you to be a better time manager
- Helps you to increase your productivity
- Decreases stress
- Helps you not forget what is important
- Everything you need in one spot
The different types of planners are:
- monthly
- monthly/weekly
And I have even seen planners that are now "goal-setting" focused.
I am a very visual person so I love being able to see how a month is laid out. I can see if we are over scheduling and make sure that we are careful to have breathing room in our calendar. I also like that it gives me a mind map of where we are headed.

I used to read "A Wise Woman Builds Her Home" fairly regularly, then getting married and other changes has had me away from it for a few years. I was looking for it yesterday and almost didn't click on this one when I saw it was hosted by blogspot. When I did, I recognized your picture, but the page/setup looks different. Have you always been on blogspot or 7 or so years ago was your blog hosted by a different company?
