Homemaking Pleasures

Some of the most pleasurable things in life are the simplest things. I love when I get into a homemaking 'mood' and start to tend to the little details of making a happy and enjoyable home. I recently received this set of plates and it just makes our home a cozier place and eating a basic meal a delight.

A bouquet of roses or simple flowers livens up a room and invites a welcoming fragrance...
whether new from the store or freshly cut from the garden.

And speaking of gardens---I have put in onions, brussel sprouts, lettuce, tomatoes, potatoes, beans, broccoli, sunflowers in my garden so far.  I would love to plant dwarf apple trees, blueberry and raspberry bushes and grapes. I think I would also like to add another vegetable plot to the yard but we will see...how are you doing?

There are so many possibilities for summer. I am so looking forward to the lazy days and baking in the sun. To really enjoy the slower pace and to enjoy time with my children and to practice my hand at some good ole country recipes...

Homemaking is so enjoyable when you relish the small joys it brings.

What aspects of homemaking do you find pleasurable?

I have started to put more focus on home cooked meals and making them special. I use our good dishes and light a candle at the table. You are right... homemaking is SO enjoyable when we focus on the positive things about it. As mothers and wives we get to make LIFE for our families. We should praise God that He entrusted us with such a wonderful responsibility!!

I have always enjoyed the pleasures of home making. It's all I've ever wanted to do; make a loving and cozy home for my husband and children. Love your red plates! Wishing you a delightful day.

Blessings,
Sandi

I love to cook and to write letters best of all....I find a gentle satisfaction in doing the dishes, sides wiped down, gleaming bathrooms after elbow grease has been deployed, the smell of polish, freshly laundered clothes in piles, and the steam of an iron making everything brand new.

I wish I had more time for housework sometimes (I work full time), because I genuinely enjoy it!

One of my favorite things to do when I have a little extra spending money is do light shopping at the Senior Center. Because I spend so much time at home I am very attuned to what would look nice, and I've been able to find a few real treasures! It is a great feeling when things come together.

I love those plates! Something about nice plates makes a meal feel homier. I also enjoy finding ways to serve fresh produce from our garden, and simply making homecooked meals for us to enjoy.

I love being in the kitchen. I like all kinds of cooking but baking is my favourite. I love being on top of the laundry especially when I get it down to one or two small loads a day.
I also love the smell of homebaked bread and I love freshly washed floors. God Bless.

My husband came home last evening with a gift for our home - I wish I could say it was a beautiful china or a bunch of roses but it was pink - a new iron to be precise! Our old iron had stopped working and the ironing basket was overflowing but the fact that my new iron is pink and works a treat is actually turning this chore into a pleasure. I'm going to look for a new ironing board cover to match - maybe in a fabric bedecked with pretty pink roses. A lovely lavender scented linen spray and some uplifting worship music playing will also help and stimulate all the senses which always makes homemaking much more pleasurable.

I love being a homemaker! I enjoy putting out fresh cut flowers on my dinning room table, lighting a candle, and baking homemade treats.

On days where homemaking can become stressful, I draw encouragement from this verse, Galatians 6:9 "Do not grow weary in doing good, for in due season you will reap a harvest if you do not give up."

Keeping my homeschooling supplies in order. :-) When I first began I found that piles of books where a normal thing and most other homeschool moms seemed to have them also. But for me, having piles of stuff around, even stuff we use every day, was disconcerting. So I've learned to love putting them away neatly at the end of the day so it looks like a home again instead of a school. :-)
