Building Healthy Family Culture

I am so excited to see this brand new resource to help us build up strong homes:

To Survive and Prosper: It’s Time to Think Strategically
About Your Children, Your Household, and Your Family Culture!

strat-e-gies: The art of devising or employing plans or stratagems toward a goal.

If you are a Christian parent living in the twenty-first century, you need to think strategically about your family. Settling for the priorities and practices of the world is a proven formula for disaster. As parents, we must do more than settle. We must self-consciously choose. This requires strategic biblical thinking. It means self-consciously building your family culture. And whether the subject is entertainment choices, home décor, travel, music in the home, or dealing with antagonistic relatives, it means that wise, Scripturally-informed parents must think creatively as they aggressively engage impediments and obstacles to success.

    1. What a wonderful resource for families. What a time saver, having all this info coming from one place. We learned from various ministries, and Christian friends, I can see this being so helpful to so many!

    2. This sounds like a great series.

In the description of one section, they use the term "jive talking". Since that is a 70's term here is the meaning from Wikipedia:
"African American Vernacular English also called African American English; less precisely Black English, Black Vernacular. Non-linguists sometimes call it Ebonics (a term that also has other meanings or strong connotations) or jive or jive-talk."

This term can be jolting for some, however, I think their intentions are good. With the hip-hop/urban culture crossing color/ethnic lines, all children are now speaking "jive".

I agree, being a great communicator is important. Yes kids, please learn to articulate your ideas and thoughts without the MTV vocabulary... two thumbs up!!

    5. Hello June,
Just wanted to make sure you knew of the coupon from Vision Forum for 25.00 off anything 75.00 or more. I believe this is good til Feb. 28. So the new series will only be 60.00 with the coupon. Woo Hoo!! I was going to order it earlier this morning, but I hesitated. Now I'm glad I waited.
Hope you have a wonderful day,
      Teresa
