Sound Asleep

Dear Mothers of America,

As our nation arises this morning from a sound sleep I would like the opportunity to awaken us all from another type of 'sound sleep' that is subtle, dangerous and destroys.

We, as 21st century families and mothers, have been lulled to sleep by...

-government propaganda that desires to control our homes, right down to how worship and educate and raise our children

-feminists theories that whisper from us from the magazines and books on the racks that falsely dictate what home and family life for us should be like and what our 'rights' are

-consumerism that threatens and robs us of our financial and future well-being

-entertainment that blinds us and permeates practically every fiber of our being as we run from our plasma TV's to our laptops to our cell phones, ipods and Wii's.

-worldly philosophy that turns our hearts away from home and God, dictating that buying more 'stuff' for our children than our parents bought for us somehow makes us successful parents. (In turn we neglect teaching them about God because we are too busy making the money to buy them the all 'stuff' they don't need and end up taking for granted anyway. Really though-- why bother, isn't that the youth pastors job anyway?)

The alarm is sounding....

WILL YOU WAKE UP?

or will you join the millions of woman who have bought the lies of this century--which are not new but have been whispered from the very beginning of time in a garden called Eden?

The alarm is sounding...

WILL YOU SAVE YOUR FAMILY?

or will you mindlessly continue to run the rat-race? You know, the one where you allow others to dictate your life to you, and you change what you know your heart is leading you to do because you begin to follow someone else's prescription for your life?

WILL YOU SAVE YOUR CHILDREN?

or will you let others raise them and disciple them to the worlds glory and not the Lord's? To serve a humanistic pagan agenda instead of seeking first the kingdom of God? Look well to ways of your household, mothers, and do not eat the bread of idleness, lest your children be stolen from you.

WILL YOU SAVE YOUR MARRIAGE?

because this takes courage. You cannot be easily swayed or influenced by a magazine article, TV show or unruly, critical girlfriend or family member. You have to grow a spine of steel because you understand your calling. You understand that if you are going to take part in the reformation of history and culture that it will take faithful steadfastness and a bold spirit of courage.

The alarm is sounding...

WILL YOU WAKE UP?

.................................

WILL THEY WAKE UP?

.................................

or

will it be----

too late?

Exciting News! Ladies Against Feminism

I am happy to announce that Mrs. Jennie Chancey is relaunching her ever popular site Ladies Against Feminism with a fresh new look and new team of contributing writers! And... I am so thrilled and humbled to share with you that she has asked me to be a part of this exciting new team!

If you are not acquainted with LAF then I highly encourage you to visit. It is abundantly overflowing with Titus 2 and Proverbs 31 instruction that strongly refutes feminism while promoting a strong, intelligent biblical view of womanhood, offers sound biblical parental guidance, practical homemaking, teaches biblical roles and much, much more. As a matter of fact, it is at the top of my list of recommended sites for godly womanhood.

Some of the other contributing writers will also include:

Anna Sofia and Elizabeth Botkin of Visionary Daughters,
Lydia Sherman (aka Lady Lydia) of Home Living,
Jasmine Baucham of Joyfully at Home
Kelly Crawford of Generation Cedar
Jennifer McBride of Noble Womanhood
Andrea and Kelly Reins of Ah! The Life
Jess Cornell of Making Home
and more...

The targeted date is set around April 2nd and if you would like to keep abreast of this site there is now a new Facebook page set up too.

Mrs. Chancey is also known for her book Passionate Housewives Desperate for God that she co-authored with Stacy McDonald. I highly recommend this book as well:

I know this site has been life changing and eye opening to many women all around the world and I am praying that it will continue to do so and that the Lord will be glorified as women are drawn to His truths. May He be glorified as this new team of women have the honor to shameless and courageously celebrate and defend biblical womanhood in the face of a lost and deceived culture.

LAF is definitely a treasure trove of knowledge and encouragement--don't miss it and be sure to check them out, there will have giveaways galore on the launch day. I have learned so much from this site that I cannot recommend it highly enough and looking forward to learning much in the future.

May the battle cry be Semper Reformanda (always reforming)

and to God be the glory!

The Assault on Femininity

Not long ago I had been reading through the book Captivating which was one of the bestselling Christian women books for 2009 and this quote caught my eye:

"The assault on femininity--its long history, its utter viciousness--cannot be understood apart from the spiritual forces of evil we are warned against in the Scriptures. This is not to say that men (and women, for they, too, assault women) have no accountability in their treatment of women. Not at all. It is simply to say that no explanation for the assault upon Eve and her daughters is sufficient unless it opens our eyes to the Prince of Darkness and his special hatred of femininity."

--John and Stasi Eldridge

While I believe this quote, I believe it is only partially true. There has not only been an assault on femininity and on women from the beginning of time but also an attack on men, children and the biblical family. As I read this, I wondered to myself how many women actually realize this truth. We need to open our eyes with wisdom and discernment as we look at the world around us and question all that is going and what is deemed as acceptable in today's culture.

If femininity is under attack then godly womanhood is under full assault. The spiritual and physical war cannot be ignored. Women of today must rise up and defend the word of God through teaching, example, love and understanding. On the same hand they must refute those ideologies and philosophies which take its stands against scripture. They must not be afraid, they must not worry about being politically correct and they must not seek the praise of man.

Women today need to protect their marriages, children and homes. Satan seeks to kill and destroy and he is after godly marriages and their seed. We cannot be idle in this area or sound asleep but always on the alert, not fearful--- trusting God for the final outcome.

Women today also need to protect their minds and hearts. Why are there so many warnings in the Bible on this? For good reason, as this is where the battle can begin. For as a man thinketh, so is he. What battle is going on in your mind today? You might not even know there has been a battle waged because the enemy can draw his sword so subtly and deceitfully that initially it goes unnoticed.

My prayer is that as women we would understand the culture and the times we are living in today. That we would seek God's face on all matters, build godly homes, have strong churches and raise children who are in love with Him and that we would do all that it takes to do so. That we would view this as fruitful and meaningful work, as our life purpose and our high and noble calling. It is only by God's kindness, grace and love that we can do that so we must seek our Father's face at all times. When we understand the culture by looking through the lenses of Scripture, then I believe, we will ultimately find our way home.

Raising Homemakers

There is a new website in the works that I know will bless you if you are the mother of daughters! This site will be dedicated to inspiring, teaching and blessing mothers who have an interest in raising their daughter in godliness and preparing them in the arts of homemaking to the glory of God.

'Raising Homemakers' is being coordinated by Sarah Mae at Like a Warm Cup of Coffee. She chose to spearhead this project because she felt the great need to put valuable encouragement on raising daughters on one website where it could be easily accessible for mothers. This site would also be great for grandmothers and also daughters learning to become homemakers.

The contributors include:

Stacy McDonald of Your Sacred Calling and author of Raising Maidens of Virtue
Robyn Brookshire of Robin's Egg Blue
Emily Rose Brookshire of Simply Vintage Girl
Breezy Brookshire of A Bowl of Moss and Pebbles
Sarah Mae
Angela Mills of Homegrown Mom

and ME!

This site should be up and running in the summer. I hope you are looking forward to it as much as I am. You can already subscribe to it and it will automatically go to your feed when the posting begins. Also don't forget to bookmark it!

Educate Your Daughters

"A refusal to educate your daughters

is a refusal to educate your grandsons----

and that grants

dominion

to God-haters."

--Douglas Wilson

Mothers, do not merely educate your daughters in mere academics and worldly philosophies.

But raise them with wisdom, discernment and in love and service of the Lord.

Girls today are well-versed in rock lyrics, the latest fashions and self comfort.

But we need to raise daughters that have discernment

and can raise up a faithful generation

that will serve the Lord wholeheartedly

and advance His kingdom

here on earth.

Give your daughters the gift of knowing their purpose on earth early in life

which is to serve and glorify the Lord.

If you do not teach her, she will spend her whole life looking for answers and purpose

and the world will be glad to share its wicked answers with her.

And she could fall into the trap of lies that beckon her

that will lead her on the path of death.

Top Ten Things Ungodly Cultures Hate That the Bible Tells Men

  1. Men protect women
  2. Men are leaders
  3. Men are responsible as heads of their families
  4. Men are to teach their children 24/7
  5. Men are to love their wives as Christ loved the church and be willing to die for them
  6. Men are to be fruitful and multiply
  7. Men do not own their bodies, their wives do
  8. Men must bring up their children in the training and admonition of the Lord
  9. Men must insure that their whole families and everyone else around them should celebrate the Sabbath
  10. Mens hearts should be turned toward their children
--Scott Brown, National Center for Family Integrated Churches

Dear Mothers,

are we helping our husband raise sons like this?

We know that this is our husbands role to teach our sons in that special way that only a way a father could and should.

However, the reality is that many mothers are home with their sons for the majority of the time.

Are we reinforcing what Dad is teaching throughout the week?

And...

What kind of sons do we see being raised in culture today?

Godly Women

A godly woman is very noticeable in a crowd.

She is not the one with the expensive, fancy clothes or the one who is loudest in the crowd.

Instead her spirit is quiet and she carries herself with humility.

She doesn't try to attract attention but instead she draws attention with her meekness because that is such a rare quality today.

She draws attention because she is a rare gem standing in contrast against the muddy darkness of the world.

For woman who are hungry for God, they will notice these women right away.

Her feet bring peace and her hands reach out to help the needy. They are the hands of Jesus bringing water from afar. Her love and patience abounds. Forgiveness is offered freely and grace abounds.

She understands her weaknesses, frailties and sinfulness and is utterly dependent on the Lord.

She knows that there is no one perfect, except her Savior. She does not sucuumb the burdening model of perfectionism that the world doles out on women.

I am blessed to know several of these women, they come in all shapes and sizes but when I see one their beauty is undeniable because their spirit touches all around them.

One day I hope to be like these woman that God has graciously put in my path.

One of these days.

It is a refining process but one I am grateful to be on the journey for.

See, I wasn't raised to be a Proverbs 31 woman.

In fact, very far from it.

If I shared with you my past-- you would be quite astonished.

But one of these days, I hope I might grow more in this area.

And as God continues his mighty refinement process in me, I am grateful to learn from women who make themselves available.

Be sure to listen to this free clip and be blessed as you enjoy the freedoms of godly womanhood:

What A Blessing!

I wanted to give a big hug and special thanks to all the readers of this blog for nominating me for Top 100 Women's Christian Blogs for 2009 over at Internet Cafe Devotions under the Proverbs 31 category for the second year in a row.

Once again, I must say that God gets all the glory for any recognition this blog receives and it is because of Him that He even makes it possible for me to be able to post! I feel awkward as I did wrestle with the decision to post this yet once again because I didn't want it to look like I was trying to get any personal recognition. But I do realize that many ladies have taken the time to nominate me--and the least I can do out of appreciation to them is acknowledge it all the trouble they went through. Thank you so much! I am constantly humbled and amazed at how God can use this broken vessel and dirty rag for His purposes. He is good and His name will be exalted through all the nations!

Dear readers, you have always been a wonderful encouragement to me and I appreciate all the comments, emails, rewards, and articles linked to this blog, etc. I really wish I could respond to every one. I cannot express to you what a blessing it has been 'meeting' you all and wish I had time to connect with each and every one of you on a more personal level.

Thank you for making my short period of blogging a genuine pleasure!

((((BIG HUGS))))

Now while you are here why don't you grab a cup of tea and head on over to check out the list for this year and visit with some of the other nominees-- I am sure you will be blessed!

A Careful Woman

A careful woman I ought to be:
A little girl follows me;
I do not dare to go a stray
For fear she’ll go the self-same way.
I cannot once escape her eyes;
What’re she sees me do,
she tries
Like me, she says,
she ’s going to be,
The little girl who follows me.
She thinks that I am good and fine,
Believes in every word of mine;
The bad in me she must not see,
The little girl who follows me.
I must remember as I go,
Through summer’s sun and winter’s snow,
I am building for the years to be,
For a little girl follows me.

-Author Unknown

Thank you, Megan Van Vuren, for sharing this!
