Steve and Danny Thompson Hymns -Three CD Giveaway!

As a mother, I have made it a point to use music to paint a portrait in our home. I have also determined that if I am raising up children for the Lord, that I would like them to learn the legendary and historical hymns of their faith, so I purpose throughout the day to have hymns playing so that they can learn these songs and the words naturally.

This has helped my children so much--now whenever we walk into almost any church that plays hymns they feel comfortable because they know the words to the song. It is like an old friend that greets them and helps them to feel comfortable in their surroundings. They also like to  give me knowing smiles when a special hymn is played and they know the words. I love when my little sons do that because it affirms what I am doing and know that it is already benefiting them at a young age. My older daughter has also been blessed by this choice of listening to hymns in our home, because now she is helping out on a worship team and when she is assigned a song, she has less trouble with the rhythm because she remembers it from our home. I can also imagine my children when they are older hearing these hymns and having fond memories of their precious childhood that will warm their heart as the years go by--these hymns are truly timeless.

Now with all this talk about hymns,  I would love to introduce you to--Steve and Danny Thompson!

Steve and Danny Thompson are two brothers who grew up in a missionary family in Honduras and Chile and wanted to share with their generation the rich hymns of our heritage. The result is a wonderful debut CD entitled How Firm a Foundation  which includes a soothing blend of vocals, classical guitar, cello, violin and piano combined to give you an uplifting moment of quiet contemplation of biblical truth. "Our ultimate desire is that our music would serve to bring biblical truth to bear on the listener's mind in order to encourage godliness." They are currently living in Missouri and serving the Lord  at Fair Grove Baptist Church as musicians. You may read more about them here.  Featured below is a video clip of them doing Charles Wesley's Hark the Herald Angels Sing to their own gentle and original tune:

(Reminder: Please turn off the music in the sidebar before listening! Thank you!)

Their music is soothing, calm and relaxing--helping the listener to focus their hearts on the Lord and point their eyes and hearts to the heavens. Here are the songs included on their CD:

How Lovely is Thy Dwelling Place
For the Beauty of the Earth
How Firm a Foundation
O For a Thousand Tongues
Depth of Mercy
Nothing But the Blood
The Old Rugged Cross

 and more...
