Congratulations Duggar Family!

A Merry Christmas and Happy New Year blessings go out to our favorite Duggar family who just recently received what they called 'the ultimate Christmas gift from God' their newest daughter, Jordan Grace...

This past weekend I just finished reading the book Jim Bob is holding '20 and Counting' and I highly recommend it. It gave fascinating and powerful insights and testimony on how they are living and lived their lives for God in areas of stewardship, finances, raising children and so forth.

I personally enjoyed and will implement some of their ideas in my own home this year such as the 'yes ma'am & chore charts' (the children get paid pennies for obedience) and the 'family bank' (which holds each child's account information in a notebook--easy for mom to manage without going to the bank and children losing their money--if the child wants to purchase something simply consult the bank notebook) I especially enjoyed the fact that frequently asked questions they get from emails were answered and frugal family recipes were also included. This book is definitely one you will want to pick up!

You can save $5 off the cover price ordering online here.

I was impressed by their oldest daughter Jana, who you can watch making 15 pies for the holidays---- definitely makes you think about how our daughters should be using their time wisely! Thanks for the inspiration, Michelle, Jim Bob and your beautiful family!

  1. Yes, I think the Duggar family is really neat. I love your posts on femininity, too. I am blogging right now on The Secrets of Loveliness -- posting chapters of this 1964 book for girls (the things they used to teach us!).

  3. I think God chooses special people to have such large families. He knows the ones that can handle it. :) I don't think I could do it, but I do know that Michelle Duggar is the hardest working woman in the US- hands down!

  6. Children are always a blessing from the Lord. I don't know much about this family, but it seems like an interesting story. I could never have such a large family. I would feel like some of my children weren't getting the attention from me as a parent that they each deserve and need. It obviously works for them, though. Just for another point of view, I recently heard a pastor speak on how they don't give allowances to their children for doing "chores" around the house, because they want them to learn that each family member has the responsibility in helping each other out, and making their house a home. They are teaching them that each person has a valued place in helping the family to function, as it should. So, they don't recieve money for mowing the yard, unloading the dish washer and such. Instead, they help them learn to make money doing things like collecting cans for recycling, or selling baked goods at their siblings soccer games. Their oldest (17 years old,) has a very successful car detailing business. He makes 4 grand a month and employs two of his friends to help. I have his name written down somewhere, if I find it, I'll come back and post it. ~Blesseings!

  7. Oh yes...when I heard the next Duggar made her appearance just before Christmas I was so happy for them..to get such an awesome gift! I am so thankful Michelle and baby are doing very well. :)

I have tried looking at every Wal-Mart in town for their book but I guess they don't carry it. Havent checked Target or Barnes and Noble yet.
As a last resort I will order it online if I must. :)

Happy New Year to you and your family! May Yahweh richly bless and keep you all!

  8. Dear Mrs. June Fuentes,

I couldn't find an email so I am posting this here.

I must first start by thanking you for all you have shared on your blog. I am just six months new to even knowing what a blog is. I found your blog early on and check it regularly. I am sooooo blessed and challenged each and every time! The Lord has used you to minister to me immensely.

We have a lot in common and you echo my heart in so many ways. You put to words what I actually feel in my heart, concerning marriage, motherhood (mamahood) and family life. My daughters and I LOVE the beauty of your blog too. Thank you, as I know it must take lots of time.

I have been through tons and tons of paper since finding your blog. I pick a topic and click print! I don't have lots of time to sit and read with so many littles, but I just take your articles with me wherever I can! I don't think I have exhausted your whole blog yet, but I have come close. I have passed many of them on to others. I keep so many around me as constant reminders of what the Lord is speaking to my heart.

Our marriage is a dream and such a gift, but even though it is so wonderful I find room for much improvement. Your writings on this subject bless and encourage.

My mamahood, now that is where I struggle more. I feel as though I can relate to Paul in Romans 7 because I have all the desire of how I want to be as a mama but I struggle so. Such an area of weakness! The Lord has done such a work in my heart over the last 21 years for which I am so thankful, but it is hard not to see how far I have to go when it is in my face everyday. I am so challenged by some of your articles, but in such a good way!

I doubt you could ever really know how much you have touched my life.

I recently started a blog to encourage women. I have loved to write for a long time, but the Lord has seen fit to let me 'sit on the shelf' of sorts. Only recently has he opened the door for me to share some of what He has done and is doing in my heart. For this I am so thankful. Though I want to be so careful to not lose sight of my first calling here at home with my littles. That is very easy for me to do. How much more 'fun' can it be to minister to others...but I know better and see that lie, so I am prayerfully walking this out.

Imagine my surprise when about a week or so ago I received a comment from YOU! It felt like a gift and smile from God. I squealed with delight and my whole family knew how exciting it was for me. Does this sound so silly from a 42 year old mama to nine? Probably!

I wrote about you in a future post, Lord willing I will publish it tomorrow (Friday 1/2) I hope it is okay, I also put the link for your blog in it.

  9. Hi June,

We LOVE the Duggar's! I'm saving up for their new book and I can't wait to read it. Thank you for sharing your thoughts.

I am pregnant with baby #5 and was wondering if you would share the story of your twins. : ) Do you have a blog post about your pregnancy? I prayed for twin boys during our last pregnancy four years ago (we had a beautiful daughter) and I am currently measuring 6 weeks ahead at 15 weeks (I have pelvic organ prolapse so I usually measure smaller than normal). We go in for an ultrasound on Tue and I can hardly wait! We have four wonderful daughters. I believe I had read somewhere on your blog that you have twins (#5 & 6?).

May the LORD bless you and your family in 2009.

    -Rachel

The Lord is so kind to have allowed me to view your comment and be encouraged by YOU for the new year!

Your comment brought tears to my eyes as I read on to see how the Lord works magnificently in lives of those around me and it is with great heartfelt gratitude that I thank you for sharing your life with me.

I am also humbled and overwhelmed by the fact that He is using this blog--and I do know one thing and that is He wants to do a mighty work in your life as well as mine.

Isn't He so good and faithful and loving?
