I do not mean to sound unintelligent or silly, but what does the quote mean exactly?
This is good.Deby
Mrs. Gunning,Doug Phillips was addressing this to men when he said this. He is basically saying that men should have direction before they ask others to follow them. I thought it was a great challenge for men when I first heard it many years ago, but I also think it is thought-provoking for moms who are raising their sons and daughters. Are they raising their sons to have vision in their lives, future families, their spiritual walk, etc.- and will our daughters marry men like who are already on this journey? I think it is good food for thought. Many blessings...
I think this quote is good food for thought, but even though, unless it is against God's Word we wives still need to follow our husband's.
Dear Anonymous,In the context I understood it in, he was addressing men that were not yet married. I hope that clears things up. Certainly, it is not a quote to support wives to not submit to their husbands. You would not find that sort of a quote at this blog, I assure you! Many blessings...
It is good to read these other comments & your responses to them because earlier today when I first read this post I was puzzled as well. I really enjoy your blog, and link to it from mine but I didn't feel comfortable asking the questions posed above - even though I was wondering. I too wondered what you meant by it and I was thinking that in submission to my husband, who is accountable to the Father for how he leads, I still must follow him. Thanks for clearing up what your intent was with this particular posting :D
Mrs. Fuentes, a beautiful quote that has much truth in it.On a side note, can you tell me the name or artist name of the picture under 'Making our homes a beautiful refuge' on the left side of your page? I would like to purchase a print of it for our new home. :) Thank you.
I found it! The photo is called 'Roses and Lace' by Joyce Birkenstock. :) Thank you!
I don't quite remember how I found your blog but I have to say how impressed I really am! Thanks for having an inspiring one! I Love This Quote! It is so true in many ways! I think as wifes we have the opportunity to inspire, uplift, and help our Husbands to Be Their Best, for me, I think our end goal is so important but what I am learning lately is that it's about HOW were going to get there! Its got to be in the Daily, weekly and monthly goals together! If we don't stop and make conscience choices and efforts then the world has it's way of making them for us. I just Loved that quote it made me want to do better at my part as a wife because we can't change our husbands or make choices for them but we can provide an atmosphere in which can give them opportunities to keep their glasses clear or sometimes even to keep those glasses on! (motivated) I Love being a Wife! as you, Like the title of your blog "a Wise Woman Builds Her Home!" Thanks for writing inspiring posts it motivates me to have a clearer VISION!
